I was wondering if it is possible to make an avatar that looks like someone but looks real, instead of a caricature. something that would look real enough to be recognizable if you saw the person or a photo of them.
If it is possible, I would like to have one of me. Also, if you could make the whole body look like me, that would be really cool too. I would want that too.. Maybe from several photos or something.
Does anyone know if that is possible yet? Anyone know how?

Any halfway good skin maker can do this. Somewhere on the web, there is a tutorial about how to do it.
Basically, you take photos of the face, deform them so they fit on the face part of the skin template, make a shape that is more or less correct, and there you are.

I saw that before. I don't really have enough time to do it. I would want someone to do it for me.
Is there any way to make the body from photos also, so it would look exactly like me?

DarkDharma from Avatar Ilse offered this service.... I referred a friend to her, years ago, and she did a stellar job! RL prices apply! You will not get three days of her time for a coupla thousand linden dollars

How to get your real shape into SL.

Is there any way to make the body from photos also, so it would look exactly like me? Get a friend to make photos of your real body standing in the Appearances pose...arms outstretched, legs slightly apart, etc. Take several photos from from various directions. Resize them to maybe 512 by 512. (256 by 256 if you still get enough detail.) Upload them to SL (or to the beta grid, if you need to save a few L$) Open the pictures... Go into appearance mode, adjust adjust adjust, using the self photos as a guide. When you get the shape right, SAVE AS... Note: The skin will fool your eye. You might try a couple of different skins, and try to average things out.

Thanks again

Thanks Ellie, that sounds like a possibility, but I'm not sure I would have enough time to play with it and I want it to look right.
Can you also do the genitals that way, with a photo? I want to get that part to look the same as mine too.. I might have to try to contact DarkDharma like jeaniesing suggested.
Thanks for the help.

From: CallMe Waco I was wondering if it is possible to make an avatar that looks like someone but looks real, instead of a caricature. something that would look real enough to be recognizable if you saw the person or a photo of them. Yes, it is possible to make the avatar recognizable as a specific REAL individual (namely the facial area). It is not possible to completely eliminate a somewhat caricatured look. The avatar geometry is simply too crude to pass for a believably realistic human (especially the male body). If you want this done professionally, here's what it involves: 1. Reference photos: Be prepared to shoot and submit about 30-40 separate image angles at a resolution of at least 2000x2000 pixels for the head (eight angles) and body (thirty-two angles) if you are commissioning a full body skin. You will also need a verified modeling release that proves any nude images depicted are of someone 18 years of age or older. Reference photos (front, back, and side) for shape matching need only be provided if not doing a skin. The skin photos will cover all the angles needed. 3. Cost: Be prepared for a quote that may far exceed US$1000 for a full body custom skinned avatar unless you agree to have the look sold to other individuals too. Also be prepared to enter into an agreement with your RL information that will likely include a limited usage license and require you to put a significant portion of the cost forward as a down payment in real money, not Lindens. If you want this done both professionally and economically (for around US$200-400, depending upon who you use) contract out the important stuff like the face/head and do the shape yourself. Buy the rest within SL as standard skin, clothing, attachments, etc.
