Hey there I'm a 3D artist with five years experience looking for work in the Second Life community. I charge around $25 for fully textured models to meet the agreed requirements. I specialise in realtime game assets, currently at university studying Computer Game Art. Here is a link to my portfolio: www.GuyThomas-3d.comIf you are interested please e-mail me on: Guy@Guythomas-3d.com I look forward to doing business with you.

hmm.. I checked out your work (very nice stuff, loved the tree) and it sounds interesting. Have you played in SL much though? How is your experience level with building there? There is a huge market for people who can make really nice sculpted maps for objects (which you can export from Max using prim Composer). If that is something you can work with please respond. I am always looking for new furnture sculpties and would definitely have some work for you, not to mention you could sell these sculpt maps repeatedly in world very easily.

Yeah. Definitely need to have the skills needed to export sculpt maps and various building components that can be used in SL. It's not really the same type of modeling as most games.

Well 3DMax objects can be uploaded into SL using Maxport, but it accounts for each prim needed to recreate the object in SL.. that tree of yours (once again gorgeous)... would be somewhere close to 1000 prims from the looks of it (if you counted every branch), and that alone would cost 10,000 lindens (roughly $37 USD) to upload into SL (SL charges 10L per prim to upload from 3D Max just like textures). So if you charge $25 for your work, then another $37 for the upload... you might find your market limited. But like I mentioned earlier, sculpt maps are always needed, they have an entire mall devoted to them (Sculpts Only Mall I think it's called) and you could make a lot of lindens selling packages of sculpties etc. And I know there are people like me who are always looking for great sculptie designers. Good luck

I don't think that his tree ( http://www.guythomas-3d.com/images/models/tree/tree.html )would have that many prims. If you look at it, he's using two polygons per set of leafs, pretty much like every X style plant in SL. The most economical way to make that tree would be to model the main part of the tree and and make a sculptmap out of it, then just use two flattened box prims for each of the leafy parts. Word of warning: to make a sculptmap in Second Life requires some fairly specific parameters. And no normal maps For more details on that, look at the stickies in the building forum.
