Is there such thing in Second Life as a HUD that changes local/IM names to 'anonymous' or just removes the name altogether for the HUD wearer? If so, where and for how much?

I'm not sure if this is what you mean but a HUD or any object for that matter can be scripted to say messages without the object or owner name. This example from the LSLWiki shows how:  |

even if it could be done all you have to do is hover your cursor over an avi and it tells you who it is.
