There's plenty of these scripts around that are basically vendor scripts... however I am in a sim that does not allow mass vendors (each item is in a single display box that is 'click to buy contents')

Does anyone have a script that instead of just clicking to buy, would instead do something like say "Who would you like to buy this for?" (Yourself/Gift for another), then you'd be asked to say a name, and then you pay the vendor and it delivers. :D

Just out of curiosity if that has been done on a "non vendor" scale. :)

I can make such a script, but since your description suggests that scripts are not allowed on that sim, it probably won't be of any use to you :(

Oh, scripts are allowed. *mass vendors* are not, such as JEVN vendors and the like, to keep lag away. :)

yeah, what they're banning is scripts that use outside servers... which is something that WILL be required to sell anything as a gift (if you use a system like, HippoVEND.. wich already does what you want). A singular "box" that could do it's own key lookups, could be done.. But it's probably going to be just as hard, if not harder on the sim in question than a networked vendor. You could sell Gift Certificates. AubreTEC sells a pretty nice system for that.

More to the point.. have you considered selling your device as NoCopy/YesTransfer instead?

You would need to put in the vendor a stub gift (a box containing a script and notecard) that the buyer then gives to the recipient, and when clicked to unpack, delivers the actual item. I don't make or sell such things, but I wouldn't be surprised if one of the major vendor makers couldn't provide that pretty easily.

Have you looked on SLX?

I have a minimal 4 prims vendor that has a gift mode. It can be reduced on prims if you want to, my store is called "Cool Solutions" search it, there's and ad that takes you to my mainstore.
