CopyBot Legit question...

Reading the horrible copybot thread had me wondering?

Is there a legit form that will only allow me to copy my own products?

I have often wanted to send my store inventory to my account avatar for safe keeping (I am nearing 60K Inventory and it is starting to get out of hand). I don't use storage prims as last year a major SL update wiped out 1000s of lindens worth of stuff I had stored in archived prims. And with a store inventory pushing 2K now the thought of making them all full perm (scripts inside included) to send over one by one to my alt is completely impossible.

So is there a "copy-bot" like device out there that will let me copy ONLY my own things? A legit copy bot if you will?

Did a search for Second Inventory and didn't come up with anything. What is this? Also only works for full perm items? Full perm to me? or do I need to reset the perms for the next inventory?

Second Inventory
it was made from the source code for copybot but is more controlled

it doesn't copy all the items in your inventory

instead it only copies items you have copy/mod/trans only

mainly your own creations and freebies

look it up on slx.

And regarding the secondlife copybot(which was at one time endorsed by LL)...there is NO security through obscurity!!!

If you plan on using them for the same thing, safety and security (both legal uses) then why not just spend 2,000 linden instead of 6,000?

Second Inventory is actually Copybot with clipped wings. We all know that Copybot can be used for some bad things, there are no restrictions on it. Second Inventory works the same but only allows you to copy things you have full permissions on (C,M,T), whereas Copybot allows you to copy anything, regardless of permissions.

Now, I'll say this much, you want to get banned for good? Use copybot for illegal purposes and watch how quickly you get your avatar, IP, MAC, and Windows ID (and partition ID) banned (and that's a forever-ban), but if you want to get cheap, reliable, backups, use Copybot, just use it legally and you're in the clear.

In the end, Second Inventory is just a fancy name for Copybot Jr., IMO anyways.

Once again, I must say that anyone that actually pays for that version of Copybot (only 2,000L? for something anyone can get for free? what a deal!) is a complete fool.

the complete fool topic is even worse, because you need to give your name and password to a program where you dont have the source here libsl and own C# coding is much better

So my advises are:
- Ask a 2nd scripter to read a script, if a script requires debit permission. This includes most vendors.
- Never grant debit permissions to a script, that does not offer source, or that you or your scripter do not understand! This includes most major vendor products.
- Never type your password into a program or website that is not original Linden Lab, or compiled on your own computer based on Indra, LibSL and own patches. This includes things like second inventory and comunity gateways.

PS: I know this sounds hard to non-scripters, but its really easy and dangerous for a non scripter to use a tool and to make yourself a fool.
