Not sure if this is the right place to post this but if such a product exist I would be interested in it. Not sure if this is even possible, but is there a device available in SL that I could load songs into and play them in SL? Can MPEG's be uploaded into SL?
I guess I could always stream my own music, but if I could just upload 10 or 12 songs and play them in SL, that would be nice.
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks in advance, Tex

You would have to upload the songs in 10 second pieces, then piece them all together again inside SL. Sounds loaded that way are subject to horrendous lag, so it's not really worth it.

Thanks for the answer even though it's not the answer I was hoping for. LOL
Tex wanders off to learn how to stream his own music.

If you want some help, don't do what someone else did and pay hundreds of L$ for public domain info.
Basically, you will need a shoutcast or icecast server (rent one, host one if you have a server or you could possibly run one locally) and a plugin for your favourite media player. Set your land music url to the server, connect the plugin and hit play.
Of course, you could always take a look around shoutcast.com for a station you like and simply set it to that.

It is possible to play mp3's directly into SL, but not really feasible to actually have a 'CD' to play music without drawbacks (described above).
You can have 'live' music fed via a internet radio or music channel, using the music url facility found in 'about land - media tab' assuming you own the rights to do so. You can also use a 'player' that will swap urls to different stations/urls via a menu. The same method can be used to control your own mp3 playlist directly from a website hosting server, however you should check that it has the bandwidth and ability to do so, most 'standard' web hosting deals do not.
We at WBA-Advertising/EML Entertainments do have several powerful host/streaming servers offering 7.4tb bandwidth to stream our own movies (our inhouse creations, not copyright materials), that we could 'rent' you a facility to stream music, but on the strict provision that none of the material is copyright protected.
Alternatively, if you have already sourced your own suitable server and uploaded your mp3's, we can supply a player that will allow you to control your own music playlist.

Thanks for the replies and all the info. I have a few favorite internet radio stations and stream them onto my land.
What I was wanting to do was select maybe an hours worth of music from various CD's and being able to play that onto my land for a one-time special occasion. So streaming my own music may be more effort than it's worth. However, the rental option might be worth looking into. But I'm not sure what this copyright thing you metioned is. (just kidding, lol).
Thanks again, Tex
PS: Not sure how to describe the music styles but if you like "singer-songwriter" or are old enough to remember the terms "cosmic cowboy" or "hippie country" check out KPIG.com and KFAT.com.
