What are you talking about?! It's clearly more visible. I mean, just look at that arrow! It's obviously more 'there' than it was before. Linden Labs has done a great service to us by making the arrow more 'there' than it ever was before.

The red marker is suposed to reach the ground. If i didn't have that arrow i would have never known where my target was...

The new beacon sucks, and unless I am missing something, we don't have an option built in to make it look like it used to.

I don't build much anymore, owing in part to the stupid way the grid rulers work, and to the thick glowy selection highlight lines, which obscure what you are trying to work on. I know, you can change the highlight thickness and such, but when you reinstall the customizations tend to get lost, especially annoying if you have to do as often as we do.

So now the map beacon is added to the list of things that were fine as they were and changed for the worse.

I really wish the company would fire the guys who think up this sort of detrimental "improvement".

Oh well, at least the beacon isn't very important.

It's not so bad, it might even be an improvement. I just tried flying from the ground to a target at 750m, and had no problem when I followed the arrow.

Before, it was kind of hard to tell what height the target was at.

While it's easier for you, it's now harder for me. I'm used to seeing a long red pole sticking up from the ground showing me which way to go. I no longer see that, and now i have to drag my camera around to where i'm looking up my butt before i can tell where i'm going. :/

Yiffy's attempts to hide the coordinates of recent images are being investigated by a crack team from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Body-cavity searches will be mandatory this time.

hehe. i just do that to keep unwanted vistors (griefers) from knowing where i hang out XD

EDIT: Even though i like it, i believe the beacon its self should start off at ground level. I attempted using it on a alt of mine to track them and it started at their position and went up. If they were 4000 meters up i would not even see them unless i looked in that direction lol.

WTF?

That's cute, but what's the option and why isn't it on by default?

It's a bit overkill. The entire sky flashes red at intervals. I'll bet it's a resource hog.

CTRL ALT D = Debug menu
Debug was replaced by client/server menues.
In Client menu go to Rendering and choose cheesy beacon.
It still needs improvements. The marker needs to start at ground level IMO.
