This is my story... Well I was born into Second Life a year ago and what a ride it has been. I have come a long way from the newbie who spent well over an hour on Orientation island just to get the right look, although I feel I will never ever get rid of the little lines by the sides of my nose no matter how much I try. I remember getting to the old Ahern Welcome Area and just standing there for like 2 hours watching people and trying to figure things out. I had to adjust my av because I think I made some kind of record for having the tallest av ever lol. I remember I saw Psyra all in his feathered glory and I was thinking to myself "Woah, how did he make that?" I remember feeling like the odd girl out, everyone looked so fancy and here I was with a car on my head because I attached it to myself after a nice person gave it to me, thinking I could attach it and I would be sitting in it. I was in love with wings, seems a lot more people wore wings then than I see now. Somehow I ended up with 20 different folders full of wings and a bunch of other things. People were pretty nice about giving things away, after awhile I had to tell people that I was ok and to give to another new person. I met a nice girl who had the same last name as me and had started recently as well and she helped me learn a few things. We went to some clubs because we didn't know much else to do. That got boring so we just wandered around and shopped a lot. She ended up becoming my SL Sis and we always had fun. We had a falling out recently which is sad, but you never know what the future holds. I decided to get my First Land and a mentor helped me find a nice spot with no clubs etc. I bought my little 512 and put up a small cottage and quickly ran out of prims. I was happy with my little part of the world and eventually moved to a bigger parcel where I live now in a nice peaceful sim. In joining SL I have learned a lot about the different lifestyles people have and how people interact. I have learned that some people like to 'put on an act' so to speak online, while others are pretty genuine and sincere...people you know you will always be able to count on. There are others who can be quite deceitful as well and enjoy hurting others for their own arrogant uncaring gains. These things are to be expected just like irl. I guess it would be pretty boring and drab if we were all the same. I have met more nice people than not-so-nice people which is good. Second Life has never really been a game to me, I care about people in SL just like I care about people irl, I think there are some people here who forget that, forget there is a person behind the pixels. I have been hurt by some and healed by others. All in all it has been a true learning experience in many ways. I don't have many regrets, I've had more good times than bad and I have my friends to thank for that. I thank LL for bringing out this type of platform and I thank all of you who make it worthwhile to be here. Will I be here another year? Only time will tell...but yes...what a ride, never to be forgotten... Now where's my damn balloons and pie!?!?
