Check out the Global Kids sim before the Lindens move it to the Teen Grid next week!

A project of Global Kids, Inc. supported by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, this island offers . . . well, an experience.

Wear the free Global Kids Translation Ring and you can understand what the Frightened Palm Tree, The Bat, and other things will say to you (and use it to speak in code with friends). Take a quiz with questions about teens and digital media. Explore the volcano at Fire Mountain. Check out information about the essay contest for teens. And . . . win some nifty loot!

Want to see it? There's going to be a party there tomorrow night (Sunday) at 6 p.m. PT -- you can see the event announcement here:

/invalid_link.html

Then . . . off it goes, to the Teen Grid. So see it while you have the chance!

-----

I want to thank each member of my team, The Magicians, for working their butts off and doing an incredible job.

The Magus Alexander Daguerre
The Geomancer Gus Plisskin
The Shamaness Wynx Whiplash

Thank you so much, guys . . . was that fun, or what? :)

This is great! I've always been fond of your work Kim :) I have a daughter that will be turning 13 in June and she is very anxious to join the teen grid. She's been watching me enjoy SL for almost a year and half now and she is excited to do her own thing.

MJ :)

Thanks, MJ! I love to imagine your kiddo running around GK Isle. Hope she enjoys it a lot. :)

Hey, is your daughter all purpley, too? :)

Actually, knowing her she'll probably be all pink'd out hehe. (She's a Hello Kitty fan) :p

Yay! Seriously people, ya'll have GOT to see this place before it leaves for the Teen Grid. I can brag on it because I didn't have so very much to do with the build itself. I was just building my little pieces and wondering how the heck the others were going to get all that stuff done in so little time. I was blown away each time I came to look at the progress!

Don't take my word for it... go see! And take a moment to marvel at the single boulder that I placed all by myself. ;D

Wynx is way too modest. She did textures, custom animation, The Bat, the Galapagos Land Iguana . . . AND she placed a boulder.

And Alexander coded the Welcome, the Globe Quiz, Earth Thrones, and Fire Mountain Access Control, and a bunch of other codey bits in and out-world that we couldn't have done without . . . and he placed a boulder.

And Gus coded the GK Decoder and the Magic Envelope's submission acceptor and the call to the Distro for the Box Full of Lizards, did the large-scale terraforming, and managed the estate and parcel settings . . . and he placed a bunch of boulders.

I placed some boulders myself, too. ;)

Building Global Kids Island was a wonderful experience. I'll miss it once it's transferred to Teen Grid.

Frans, you and Rhiannon did a great job. Cool idea with the giant flowers, and pretty too. :)
