I am so excited to announce that renowned artist T. King has joined the 2006 Metaverse Awards crew and has agreed to develop and design the Award which is to be bestowed. I have been a fan of Mr. King's for years, and own two of his pieces. Having honed under the mentorship of the brilliant Fantasy artist Keith Parkinson, Mr. King developed quite a large fan base of people who appreciate his unmistakable signature style. He has worked within the gaming industry for companies such as Sigil, SOE and Microsoft Online Studios as a designer and art consultant to some of the most high profile Gaming entities in the world. He has also designed several book jackets and despite being booked for the entire year on contractual commercial work, made the time to create the Award expressendly for the event and the second life environment. As many believe Mr. King to be the definitive in modern digital art, having mastered the craft of the new medium, it seemed all to appropriate to ask him to design the award that complimented the many others who were breaking new ground in the metaverse medium. I'd like to thank Mr. King for sharing his incredible talents with us, and it was a true pleasure introducing him to our world of Second Life. Anyone interested in purusing a few select pieces of art may visit his website at www.tkingart.comwarmly, Phaylen :::Edit:: I apologize, I just saw that this is probably the wrong forum for this post as the category says no announcements. Sorry for any inconvenience. I'll move this to general? I guess general? There is no announcement categories. Hmmm... But if I move it to general what if it gets moved to classifieds? Is there a classified announcement? But... then again.. my post before the last was moved to special attractions. But this isn't a special attraction... I don't believe so anyhow. *sigh* I'll move it to general and keep my fingers crossed that I did the right thing and I apologize in advance to all if if I'm wrong since when did making a post on the forums get so complicated anyway?

OK, backup a little there. What is the 2006 Metaverse Award exactly? This is two people in two days that have referred to something presuming that others know what they're talking about

From: FlipperPA Peregrine Wow, very cool news Phaylen! Was he familiar with SL previously, or did you introduce him to our lil' world here? As far as I know, Mr. King did not have prior knowledge of Second Life. In my initial email to him I went to great lenths to explain to him the capacity and potential in SL hoping he would take a peek. From: Jonas Pierterson 2 questions
1. What is this award
2. who is this artist? 1. The 2006 Metaverse Awards was originally a small event that I had billowing in my head. As I was gone for a long period of time, I was a little overwhelmed by the sheer size of the world, and awestruck by the things people had done.. I wanted to see it all, wanted to befriend every single soul out there. It has always been my belief that- and a very important one- that you honor your peers and their achievements. From this came the original concept wherein I would invite the entire community at large to make nominations in a non-competitive arena, but instead to acknowledge and support achievements, spectacular content and people. When I began the world was very small and intimate. This seemed the unique opportunity to recapture that feel by involving the community, celebrating second life and it's possibilities as well as each other. So, I invited people to drop their nomination in a machine... I wasn't sure what to expect. I placed the obligatory post in the event forum and then next day there were 70+ nominations, and the 223 nominations, and word of mouth spread, and people came out to encourage and support their friendsand their efforts... and soon it was an event all it's own. The top five individuals recieveing the most nominations in each of the 8 categories were then placed on the voting board, and the community, once again, came out to vote. Nominees campaigned, displayed their personalized nominee notification, but better than anything, I met many, many kind, generous, talented people who once again made Second Life a little smaller for me, and apparently for many others who visited places, builds and other things and made friends of their own. Thus far, the only results have been positive ones. Presenting it in an high concept awards style ceremony seemed like fun. I personally love awards season, huddle up to my TV for the oscars, and thought it seemed like good fun to invite the entire community to come and celebrate. Ultimately, my problem is, I can't do anything small. So I may go bankrupt doing this! I realized that the overwhelming response to the event meant I couldn't accomodate everyone on my little Zoe plot, then as I began planning the ceremony I realized the stage in pooley couldn't lend itself to the atmosphere I wanted to immerse the guests in. So I rented Fame... then the auditorium, three tiers tall, 4 balconies and an elaborate stage, long, lavish red carpet, muraled cielings, crystal chandeliers, intricate details... was build to house the event. As it got bigger and bigger I realized I needed help so I got an assistant to help field some of the inquires and tasks, decided to give the Award some true novelty by inviting a real life Artist to design it. I was actually shocked and quite giddy when he agreed. There you have it. March 31st, the First Annual 2006 Metaverse Awards, 40 nominees, 5 live performances, great fun with a little satire and more. big. Big. BIG show! Thats the MVA's 2. The Artists website is listed above if you want to know who he is Check him out! and Lewis... <3

Thank you for keeping me organized, Torley. I'm so sorry. The forums are like a dart board... I aim for a what I think is the right category, but no matter what I can't hit the bullseye. Thanks for your patience with me.
