Last night, I had the honor of hosting the wildest, most enjoyable fashion event I have ever seen in Second Life! The StyleHive Fashion Show (www.stylehive.com) The sim was packed, the lag was bad, and the oohing and awing was continuous! Here are a few photos from the sim last night:

http://www.sluniverse.com/pics/Default.aspx?Search=rivulet

I just wanted to take a moment to thank everybody who helped make this project the head-banging success it was!

First thanks to Gina Pell, CEO and Founder of www.splendora.com. She was not only fab-tacular, she was snarky, and just a little bit randy! I had to hold her down before she hurled her body on top of Barnes! It's always an honor when a Second Life event can attract real life star power, so I did the best I could to avoid hyperventilating in her presence!

Sabrina Strauss from www.stylehive.com. She and I worked cheek-to-cheek for the entire project, and her stability and creativity kept me sane. She also helped host the show with her fun and witty fashion input.

Spin Martin, a last minute addition to the host panel and a welcome cure for the estrogen overload produced by Gina, Sabrina, and I.

Super special thanks to Trinity Serpentine who DJed the event! I simply told her "give me gay-club-assless-pants music" and she ran with it! the soundtrack she provided gave the entire event the awesome vibe we enjoyed!

I also want to thank the following models who agreed to shake their money-maker on the runway and endure the best Simon Cowell impersonations Gina, Sabrina, and I could do. We did the best we could to "roast" the designers, but our barbs were contrivances. In all honesty, the three of us were star-struck by the talent we saw last night and we REALLY appreciate what good sports you guys were.

Torrid Midnight and her model Ingrid Ingersoll
HoseQueen McLean and her model Zyrra Falcone
Fallingwater Cellardoor
Nylon Pinkney
Launa Fauna
Lo Jacobs
Toxius Stephanopolis
Barnesworth Anubis
Starley Thereian and her model Lur Sachs
Chip Midnight and his model Erika Thereian
Canimal Zephyr and her model Freyja Hathor
and
Nephilaine Protagonist

Behind the scenes, making the whole thing work while Aimee was three sheets to the wind ... I want to thank Iumi Cline! If I appeared to be like a duck serenely gliding across the water, Iumi would be the duck's feet, paddling frantically beneath the waves. Without her, this production would have fallen apart.

Thanks to Kiari LeFay for helping with all the furniture poses! She is more than a delicious lemon-flavored fish treat! She is a wonderful, insanely talented individual!

Thanks for Launa Fauna for putting together a great looking AV for Gina! Ponytail and all :D

Thanks to the residents of Rivulet! When the sim was full, I asked these wonderful folks if they could hang out elsewhere during our event. It was their own land, and they had every right in the world to tell me to go hump a tree. But they were very gracious and accomodating! Thank you SO much for your help guys!

Finally, thanks to Reuben Li... uh Reuben Tapioca! :D Reuben is the big-wheel behind it all! He's the voice of Charlie to our Angels. When it comes to making large scale productions work, nobody can top Reuben!

Was this show available to anyone or just the well known designers who have been around for years...

So it begins. This project fell on my plate from a non-Linden. Perhaps there are favoritism accusations to be lodged, but not against Linden Lab.

I really had a fun time, Aimee. Major kudos for putting together such a fun and entertaining event! Everyone had really gorgeous work on display (and Tox who blew me away with his technical wizardry... how the hell does he do that stuff?!). Thanks for the invitation and hospitality. If you do another one with a different batch of designers I'll definitely be in attendance.

I don't believe I mentioned LL at all in my post, it was a general question that I know some people aren't asking out of fear of backlash or jealousy accusations. I see I won't get the question I asked answered though. Thanks!

Maybe she's a little gun shy?

Gee, I can't imagine why...

So anyway, if your worry isn't about LL involvement, what is it? Are you saying would it be wrong if they only invited their "well known designers who have been around for years" (though I doubt they did)?

It's their show, and being that it isn't Linden sanctioned, is it really anyone else's place to harsh on them for how they choose to run their own show?

I don't get out to many events, but this one was a blast. I loved to see what the ladies had to display and it was just an all around fun time. I'll append this thread and mention again a thanks to Trin for her excellent DJing.

Congrats on a great show!

MM

EDIT: Phooey on this FIC talk, btw... Aimee did NOT, I repeat did NOT, cash that check from Philip! :P

I didn't get the impression that Zsu was harshing at all, but you nailed it on the gunshy part so I can understand the reaction. In answer to the question I think they just picked some personal favorites and probably based the number on how long they wanted the event to run. I'd love to see them do more shows with different designers each time. It was a fun time in a beautiful venue.

Yeah, you're probably right Chip, sorry ZsuZsanna.

Just wanted to say I was there and really enjoyed the show. I didn't pay much attention to the chat box because I was taking pics and talking to Mulch on Yahoo Voice at the same time, while helping my son defeat Ganon on Zelda: The Wind Waker, but the part of me that was "there" was having fun :D

Thank you Aimee, Iumi, and all the excellent designers (many of whom lay claim to my rl paychecks ;)) for taking time to display some of the excellent art and creativity that is possible in Second Life. I look forward to more shows as well.

And Aimee, your new furniture is GORGEOUS!
