I agree the Classifeds were a mess, but seriously, is it THAT hard to enable a date sorting function, to allow creators to get feedback on their goods?
I sure know if I was a busy creator I wouldn't want every tom, dick and harry iming me whining about "IT DOESN'T COME IN THIS COLOUR" or "OMG THATS FAB, I JUST WANTED TO SAY"
Lets just hope they don't get too swamped and annoyed eh?

they had to either remove bumping so that threads were sorted by original posting date, or get rid of comments altogether
I would have preferred the former, but can live with the latter. It sounds like they chose the latter to cut back on forum moderation work... which I can understand.

Just so yall know - and all my postings on this subject to Hotline, my blog and other threads where people were concerned with the state of the New Products forum - I and others have always suggested all of those things:
1. No bump posting
2. Date only or other ways of sorting
3. Alternative area for comments
etc.
I'm happy to see the post only but I do agree it should have been taken further and/or implemented some of the suggestions from others and myself.
but so far so good - gotta start somewhere - Rock On LL!

I definitely saw a problem but I also definitely saw the best solution to be sort by date, comments, but no bumping.
I wonder why they made it this way instead? I guess just so there would be that much less work for them, insofar as there would be that many fewer responses. But - since they apparently don't read the boards really anyway, relying mainly on ARs, surely that's not it.
Or maybe it is because it would take an hour or something to make the boards sort by date.
So I don't know. And they're not telling.
Now we have much more of the 5-star business - or undo-the-stars-your-competitor-has business. I hate that.

I think it was a ridiculous change and I find it interesting that we weren't told ahead of time that it would be changing. I want to be able to comment or ask a question in the thread. I don't want to bother creators in world to ask questions and hope that they even get the IM because their messages may be capped already. I agree that there should be some way for us to be able to leave a comment without bumping the thread.
I'm pretty unhappy with how it stands now...

I agree, they should not have removed the posting, and just remove the "bumping up" But if they want to do it this way, they should make a "Discussion" forum inside the classifieds so we can ask questions and get answers, instead of going to the main "Discussion forums" and "Notices and well wishes".. And i also hate how the "Shopping forum" in the classified is no post, because if we have a sale or something important to say and people want to know more information about it, they cant post  |
