Multi-Verse Records and Radio Seeking New Ownership

To all those that this may concern:

Effective immediately, I am terminating any and all operations related to Multi-Verse Records and Multi-Verse Radio, KMVR.

Those of you who know me well are aware that I have recently accepted a position in RL with a large telecomm company here in San Diego. What I did not know when I applied for this position, was that I was unwittingly putting myself into a position in which my SL endeavors would represent a direct conflict of interest with my new employer.

I thought I was going to work for a major cable company that provided broadband internet, telephony and cable television services. It turns out that the parent corporation to this company is a fortune 500 conglomerate with hundreds of media outlets under their umbrella. They own everything from radio and television stations to newspapers and magazines.

I guess it's my fault for not doing my homework on the company before hand, but it simply didn't occur to me that such a possibility would exist.

In all honesty, there is no decision to be made here. I am very excited about my new position and to be on board with this company. There is a goldmine of opportunity with them and the line of work is right up my alley. My RL friends and family would have me committed for any other course of action.

It's a bittersweet moment as I am deeply and emotionally attached to all the hard work I have put in to my SL businesses, and more importantly the relationships I have formed in the process.

I will continue on in SL and put my thinking cap on to try and think of a business venture that I would be as passionate about running as I was MVR and KMVR, and that I can confidently say would not present any foreseeable conflict of interest with my current employer. I still believe that SL or something like it is the future of the internet.

In the mean time I am interested in turning over the helm of both of my business ventures to to the right person. I'm looking for someone that has a passion for music and SL. I am hoping to recoup at least part of my investment thus far.

Any interested parties should contact Erik Pasternak in world.

what would be the chances of soliciting MVR to the parent company? imagine having that kind of RL backing for your project! AND you could then be hired to continue acting as president of MVR..

i know it's not easy or completely realistic, but it's a thought train i thought was worth mentioning.

If I thought there were a chance in hell or more importantly thought I had the pull to even get the appropriate audience, I might try it. But alas, I am newbie pion in this organization.... =)

Well that was quick...

Multi-Verse Records and Radio is now owned by another resident who I can not name in the forums. =P

The new owner is a long time record and radio industry veteran and I feel confident that he will lead MVR on to bigger and better things.

For inquiring minds, I lost money on this venture, but I chose to turn the helm over to a respectable and passionate SL entrepenuer rather than hold out for the highest bidder.

I will remain involved as a cosultant and A & R mediator only as long as is necessary for the new management to switch seats and grab the wheel.

Thank you all for your dedicated, creative and endless efforts, you know who you are..... ;-)

Erik,

i'm happy to see that MVR will be handled by someone both "in the know" and passionate about it's success! i'd hate to see yet another SL label go defunct..

it's also good that you're staying involved to make the transition that much smoother, although it would be great if you could stay involved in some unofficial manner. perhaps as a volunteer consultant or something?

another possible upshot is that the new owner has experience in this field and may, at some point in the future, be able to work with you to present the label to your new parent company. this would just be so amazing for you, the new owner, MVR itself and SL! :D

and yes, i still plan on submitting my music to MVR once i have a few songs finished. (much less, started.. lol)

Cybin,

I appreciate your line of thought re the parent company, but again, it would be a conflict of interest to work for a multimedia conglomerate, and be working for a mutlimedia company on the side.

I've spoken with legal on this issue and they were very clear about the rules and regs, and recommended that I take the course of action that I have.

The new owner defenitely has the connections to turn MVR into a giant, and the to solicit the business should the time come to do so. He currently makes a RL living in the radio and podcasting industries, self employed no less.
