As my question was amongst the many ignored in the Town Hall, I repost it here again for comment please.
Why are there not more roads, waterways etc on Linden land?
So many people make or use vehicles yet there are so few places to actually use them.
I can understand some people do not want roads, but I would guess that 99% of the game does not have any roads anywhere nearby.
Please can we have some sort of transport network established? I do not see that I should have to spend all the money to buy a complete sim just to be able to lay down a few roads so that I can drive around as I wish.

We've tried various types of roads and waterway systems in different parts of the world as we've developed it. The most recent continent however, has no specific Linden infrastructure. There are reasons for this - scalability and the resource commitment to fully develop land, along with mixed responses to the infrastructure we have created. A question that we should ask though, is whether it makes sense for the community (residents and Linden) to expect landowners to create infrastructure to the spec of their customers, or if that's Linden Lab's job. I expect there will be strong and varying opinions about the response to that question, but I think it's a dialog we should have.
