"some of the unencrypted customer information stored in the database was compromised, potentially including Second Life account names, real life names and contact information"

Why can't all this info be encrypted? I don't want some kook showing up at my door just because he's addicted to me in game. This is extremely private RL info that should be encrypted.

Also, why no phone help until Monday? This is an emergency situation that can lock hundreds, perhaps thousands out of SL all week-end through no fault of their own....well, other than having a bad memory and not keeping good records. I hope at least there's another way for people to get help with forgotten secret questions or the e-mail address they used without having to wait until Monday.

**Note: this board let me post this but now when I went to reply to a post it says I don't have permission. Can LL please look into this bug? Might prevent a lot of new threads from having to be started, if it's happening to others.

Hi Sophie! Good question about encrypted information. Your password and payment information is encrypted in the database that was compromised. Your name and contact information isn't, and we realize that is a serious problem. It hasn't been encrypted so that customer support can help you with questions. In the future though, we will look at how we can both give you the help you need and still make sure that your real life information is safe.
