This question was already posted here this morning and many of us were waiting for the answer. Unfortunately there is no trace of the question now, sooooo. I'll ask it.

Please see this thread:

Dan Linden posted the thread stating he was changing the LOD for cylinders and torus (torii??). We looked at it, went to Preview and played with it and posted that it was a bad idea. You can not have the circular profiles with different LODs. Torus, cylinders and spheres need to have the same numbers of faces or they will never mesh.

1.12.1.12 came out and I saw in the release notes that LOD was changed. Logged into main grid and YEP!!!! Cylinders have more faces then Spheres and my space house is broken now. EVERYTHING is broken that has a cut sphere touching a cut torus or cylinder. HUGE, HUGE problem.

I will give the benefit of the doubt and think that including this change in 1.12.1.12 was a mistake. Mistakes do happen. Yep LOD does need to be raised, we all agree to that. But you need to wait until you can raise all 3 at the same time.

So just where everyone will know, here are the questions:

Was including this LOD change into 1.12.1.12 a mistake? Will LL either change the LOD back to the way it was for now and wait to release all 3 at same time? Or will LL leave it like it is and is rushing to update the LOD of spheres also, and when could we expect this? And finally, please throw in any further explanations that could be given to clarify the situation.

Thanx for writing in about this, Jesse -- just to let you and everyone interested know, that Runitai Linden has fixed the bug affecting what you describe (which was in turn a bug needed to fix another LOD problem with "joints between bamboo-looking objects made out of tori popping";).

The fix will be included on an updated Beta Test Grid, hopefully soon.
