Dear Lindens,

Please do not brush this question aside telling me both parties are adults.

THE LAW, in the United States ( H.R. 4472: Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006) prohibits the making, transfer and viewing of simulated child pornography.

This bill : http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?tab=main&bill=h109-4472, is now law. And it prohibits such things as lolicon (simulated japanese child porn) and acts of 3D and 2D child porn that does not involve children in the making and use.

The current situation in SL is a limbo, you have told us that that such acts as age-play (child avatar's depicted as 5-8 year olds) having sex is totally fine in your world. But, in light of this new law and in light of the massive debate that is raging in your own forums on this matter, I beg you to re-consider this matter and give us a response on how you feel about child avatar's having sex in light of this new law.

Torley, I'd very much like if you forward this to whichever Linden is responsible for legal matters.

Thank you,

Wrom Morrison.

Edit:

Hello Torley,

Thanks for the reply, my question was not in regard to Section 2256 as it appears in the link given by Ginsu Linden, but rather the ammendments this bill introduces to that section and section 2257. If you could have Ginsu go over this and see if there is anything to be worried about, I'd certainly be very happy :) Thanks again.

REF: Sorry doesn't let me hyperlink there, it's Section 502 of the bill

H. R. 4472--39
SEC. 502. OTHER RECORD KEEPING REQUIREMENTS.

Dear Wrom,

As this has come up a number of times before--the same and similar questions--I recommend looking at the many Linden answers we have on this topic. One of the most comprehensive was posted by our general counsel, Ginsu Linden:

Please note the word "indistinguishable" and how that applies to the context here.

You're super welcome!
