LOL anyone who makes one of these polls is providing a little sociological study all their own.
The way they divide up the rest of the world might as well be like the New Yorker cartoon that shows the New Yorker building as a giant looming tower in midtown, with E. 42 and E. 23 much larger than say "Afghanistan" or "China" out at the margins.
Everyone slammed me for my "New Yokerish" division that had "retail" in there with "low wage" and "health care" (it was a big grab bag) and got all shirty about whether this constituted a "value judgement".
And here, Hiro completely left out media. And he didn't put media in with art/entertainment where it is often found (and the distinctions increasingly blur. I find that hilarious.
After we get Toy to click off "Agriculture" I wonder how many other posters we're going to find in that category such as to have justified putting an entire category separate for it. After all, is it like 4-10 percent of the entire population of the US are involved in agriculture? Those in this sector could correct me.

I went with "Art / Music / Entertainment" because it was the closest thing I saw.

You specifically said that if we didn't like your categories, that we should do our own poll, so I did. And just because I didn't specifically mention fields doesn't mean they wouldn't fit. Media would fit under entertainment in most cases, though if you're an office clerk for a TV station, that still makes you administrative.

I am a Regional Director implementing and supervising offender treatment / educational programs within various correctional settings, both "behing the wall" and within the community. Since my true "client" is the public, I chose Law / Law Enforcement. The majority of my therapist friends believe I am NOT a "healer" but rather an agent of the law. Much of my time is spent with local and state officials / politicians in order to inform them of sentencing options and the importance of objective risk / needs assessment of offenders. However, I wouldn't even be in this field if I didn't have my MA in Counseling Psychology. Much of my time is spend interviewing and assessing individual offenders to determine their risk to reoffend and to identify criminogenic need areas. Those assessments are used for classification purposes, parole eligibility decisions and level of sanctioning at sentencing. (also train others in this kind of assessment) To be honest ... the people in most need of self-analysis and accountability work in the DAs offices, Probation / Parole Dept.s and are correctional administrators. The offenders find it much easier to recognize the need for self-change - discordia

I'm not voting in another one of these polls. Y'all have worn this subject to a frazzle for no apparent reason. It now seems like a waste of our time to even read the threads.
