The Linden dollar is selling for US$4.00/1000 and buying for $3.99/1000.
I know that news about normalcy and stability is never news, but I thought it was worth posting here. It's not the crash and burn that everybody predicted weeks ago -- remember? It's just at the normal rate of $4.00/1000 which King Philip once established as what he thought of as the "normal rate" and then became "the normal rate" in part by fiat and in part for natural causes.
It's quite remarkable that a day after "payday" on a Tuesday, when a lot of people cash out of the game to pay for the game subscription itself, and a day after a new game patch, which IMHO always caused the GOM to suffer and dip, it's holding its own.
Of course, maybe less player activity over the long weekend could account for it but I think generally it's a very healthy sign and one that we should hold up to all the Chicken Littles.

Nice post Prok, I find this as welcome news. Has it been holding this price over a number of days?
Does anyone have an analysis of the GOM prices during the login troubles a few weeks back? I remember taking a look at it one night and it still appeared to be close to $4/1000.

From: Prokofy Neva It's not the crash and burn that everybody predicted weeks ago -- remember? Yes, I do remember. Which is how I can say not everyone. But why be bothered by facts when EVERYBODY sounds so good, even if not true.

Has SL been selling more land for L$ instead of USD?
It would be interesting to compare that trend to the GOM trend.

I coulda sworn it was only like 2 people trying to get everyone panicked?
Of course, I'm one of those skeptical cynical types who, whenever I see posts about land or $L crashing when it's only hiccupping, thinks it's done deliberately to drive prices back up artificially.
I'm funny that way.

From: someone Of course, I'm one of those skeptical cynical types who, whenever I see posts about land or $L crashing when it's only hiccupping, thinks it's done deliberately to drive prices back up artificially. I tend to agree. But I think at least one person making the posts was relatively new and just innocently worried, not plotting. From: someone Has SL been selling more land for L$ instead of USD? Seems to me a lot of the New Continent land parcels are in LL but I don't have the scientific answer on this. From: someone Yes, I do remember. Which is how I can say not everyone. But why be bothered by facts when EVERYBODY sounds so good, even if not true Hey, koolhand, how's the water in the IRC channel? Obviously, "everybody" is just a figure of speech meaning"lots of people were posting this" -- I remember being in the minority thinking that it meant not an awful lot. It wasn't meant to be taken literally. But what' important about your YOUR post is you got to not only take a poke at me, but enhance your own sense of self-worth -- hey, two for one!

Satch My data for the past 2 weeks shows a steadyish buy price of $3.95 and sell at $3.98 How far back do you wish to go? I can provide charts if anyone wants. Just be specific about the time period required. There has been a hiccup over the past week with the sell price jumping to 4.04 at the weekend, but it's settled back again. The scary part is the lack of confidence on the buy side. Aside from the 2 orders of 100 and 200 blocks (not my orders), the buy side is almost non-existant. I'll not say which orders are mine, but if I removed them there could be problems...

Hmmm, you must be looking at a different GOM to me then Prok... That graph doesn't look too flat to me - though I'm not complaining, having bought heavily at 3.85 As I said when I posted about the situation, I wasn't worried, just waiting for the low! And the land market is certainly both slow and over supplied at present - though LL seems to be reducing it's releases somewhat. And what is being released is largely salt-marsh! Now there's a challange for any would be emerging Land Barons!

What am I missing? Checking the graph? Seriously though, since the 10th May it's only been at $4 on rare occasions, much of the time it's actually been between $4 and $4.10 (rare peaks), but that was a lovely fall to $3.8 around 24th (though probably not if you were selling), but, yes, I suppose you are correct - the average is probably around $4 +/- I guess you are mainly concerned with turning your rental income into real $, and can afford to postpone selling until the price is right and if $4 is good for you, then things don't look too bad. I'm more into trading, which means I actually welcome big short lived dips, provided of course they don't last too long or adversely affect the internal economy for a sustained period. Hopefully the current land glut will taper off now that LL has reduced the volume of land releases somewhat and things will get back to normal - until the next time...

I wouldn't be so sure about the Lindens slowing their land releases, could be the eye before the storm. I've never known them to do that for long but I've only been following it about 6-8 months.
