SL Player Welfare Poll

We all have seen the growing number of threads these days complaining about certain people or groups who are affecting the land market and the economy of SL. It seems that once these threads are deemed "Out of hand" by the lindens, they are immediately closed. New threads of the same subject are immediately opened again complaining about the same subject over and over again since it seems that the Lindens are not doing anything about the complaints except for closing the threads. This is a poll, and nothing more. Please vote and do not post any replies to this thread. This poll is to discover how the current problems in SL as stated in these multiple threads are affecting you as a user of SL. Again, this is not an attack on anyone in SL, but an attempt to discover the current feelings of you as a SL player. Thank you for your time.

Sorry, but I am going to post a reply. It's a good topic but it deserves conversation and not just simply clicking a radio button in order to give a one or two word selection.

My own personal experience has been over 20 years of various message boards from Genie to Prodigy to AOL to Compuserve to these various online worlds. The one common thread in all of them is that people use these boards to express frustration. Frustration that their life sucks. Frustration that someone else is better off. Frustration that someone doesn't share their opinion. And from the relative safety of our homes/offices/huts we can open up on others in ways we couldn't imagine face-to-face.

The righteous will tell you that this is a virtual world with endless possibilities and that we should all hold hands and share a Coke. Unfortunately, rl always creeps into these virtual worlds and peoples true colors show. If someone is determined to attack someone else they are not going to let closing down a thread stop them.

Sorry, Games. I find this poll ambiguously phrased.

Does an "I am happy" vote mean that I am happy that the forums are available for the airing of all these difficulties (and that I would prefer threads not to be closed if they get a bit tense) ?

Or does "I am happy" mean that I am happy to see disputes terminated by the closing of threads ( and perhaps also that I consider many of these threads as "unnecessary bitching".

Or maybe I am happy that turbulent threads are closed, but I nevertheless approve of the topics being aired, provided every one remains polite and controlled?

Since I don't know which you mean, I can't vote.

Is it the "thread closing" or the "too much complaining" we are voting about ?

Or is it asking if we agree with the actual complaints in the "complaining threads"? In which case we need to know which threads. Some I go along with (eg prevent misleading lease selling) some I don't ( lists of avatar names or keys infringe privacy). So I can't vote on that basis either.
