3. Dose it cost money to build stuff(note I am coming from the game "There";)

Welcome to SL Homer :)

1/2. To quailfy for first land (if you haven't already done so) you will need to sign up for a premium account. Once you are on premium, you can look for your first land plot. First land is constantly being released, but gets snapped up very quickly. If you look and don't find any, don't get disheartened, just keep an eye out.

To find first land, click on the find menu in game. Click the 'land sales tab'. As there are so many listings of land sales in general, it may take a few mins to load up. Once you have the list in front of you, the first land (if there is any) will be clearly marked at the top of the list. You can pick any first land plot that is available.

3. It costs nothing extra to build on your plot, although you do have a prim allowance. For a 512m2 plot, you get the use of 117 prims. If you wish to use more than this (prim allowance is proportionbal to area of land held), you will need to upgrade to a higher tier to enable you to buy more land.

Hope that helps.

Getting land when you sine into SL is easy, but it gets more difficult when you cosine! </rimshot> (Sorry, typo humor)

Click the "Find" button, then click on the "Land for Sale" button. As a newbie with a *premium account* (sorry, basics can't own land) you are entitled to a nifty first-time land deal. THere's a drop-down menu, select "First Land" there - assuming there is any available, you'll find some 512 square meter plots at one L$ per meter.

Yes, you get to choose your land.

It costs L$ to:
  1. Upload a texture (L$10)
  2. Upload a sound (L$10)
  3. Upload an animation (L$10)
It's free to rez a prim, use textures you already have available to you (and there are GOBS of free textures availalbe), etc. etc.

Homer, Welcome to Second Life!

If you want to own land you must have a Premium Subscription. Cost: 9.95 US$ / month

With a Premium Subscription you can own 512m^2 of land with NO additional cost.

You can buy any land you want, BUT, Linden Lab offers you a choice of several plots of land for only 512 L$ (or 1L$/m^2). This is called FIRST LAND and it can be found in the LAND SALES tab as FIRST LAND.

You can only buy this land if it is the first land that you buy in SL as Homer Melville. If you buy any other land, you will have to pay what the seller demands.

Now, if you want more land than just 512m^2, you will have to pay additional monthly fees.

I know I repeated some things, but nobody had mentioned the cost of the Premium subscription.

The Premium membership is different in 2 ways from the Basic membership.

1. Premium members receive 500 L$/week as a base stipend. Basic members receive 50 L$/week.

2. Premium members receive allocation for up to 512m^2 of land at no additional cost. Basic members CANNOT own land.
