I wonder what others watching or playing these auctions think is going to happen with the New Continent's land prices. There has been speculation that there will be speculation LOL, and prices of 512s have soared out there, to $6999 which is not even the price of telehub land in the old continent.
On the other hand, the first PG land that got auctioned, Cecropia, was a nothing, it sold for what it would sell for in the old continent, even less. And who wants PG anyway? And who wants a plot that is going to be the nearest landing point if you fly from Purple, and therefore get all crapped up?
One of the factors is how you value the Linden in calculating what the in-world cost is going to be of these parcels. Last week, it was $4.05/1000 LL and today it is currently at $4.23/1000 LL, so obviously you have to figure it differently...or do you? Because in 3 days, after payday on Tuesday, after the New Continent settles down some more, it might be that again, who knows?
Here's how some of the parcels did, depending on how you calculate them. These are mature, waterfront in the New Continent:
Sweetbay 004 (64,192) - 16384 m2
Auction sale price: $460
6.9/m2 if 4.05
6.6/m2 if 4.23
Columbia 004 (192,192) - 14448 m2
Auction sale price: $399
6.8/m2 if 4.05
6.5/m2 if 4.23
Columbia 005 (192,74) - 8848 m2
Auction sale price: $302
8.42 if 4.05
8.06 if 4.23
Mind you, this price per meter here is just a raw price based on the numbers, not calculating the tier you have to pay, the expenses with PayPal transfers if the land was in Lindens, the other types of costs and fees that can appear on land. Land barons have formulas for calculating this to determine their margins in resale.
Now, you say, are these higher prices (higher for the auction) just because a lot of wannabee baron fucktards like Prokofy are bidding on the auction and "driving up prices" and "making it too expensive for us all" and "ruining the game for us all"? LOL
Well, maybe so, test out your theories. YOU buy something and see if YOU sell it. Or just sit back and watch the big wholesalers buy and chop. They may be motivated to keep prices lower just because of all the hype and because the Linden $4.25 exchange probably can't last -- but who knows? That's why they call it "speculation" lol.
Honestly, with the flight difficulties and lack of telehubs and uncertainty as to telehub/commercial/club location, a lot of people will want to wait and see.
