This really bites...My new clothing line finally gets going and is making me a good profit and boom...SL has problems with the log in server. Now my sales have dropped nearly 70% Now i'm just a basic account holder that's renting land so if I don't make sales I can't pay my rent. The same could be said about people with prem accounts, alot of people are losing money because of this log in problem. If they don't fix this quick the SL economy will crash....

I'm very sorry to hear that the log in problems are affecting your business so severely. I hope that turns around for you soon.

As someone who has run a clothing, etc. business in SL for more than a year, I have a bit of advice. Just like in RL, a business has to have a plan for natural disasters and economic downturns, or it won't survive. Most start-up businesses fail in the first 5 years because of lack of capital to deal with environmental reverses. I'm not sure what that time frame would compress to in Sl... 5 months?

Have you considered some options for riding the current storm? Do you have a cash reserve from your previous profits to cover lean times? Maybe you could talk to the person/s you rent from. They may be willing to cut a deal, or if they are relying on you to make their teir, they may have other suggestions. Perhaps cutting down the number of places you sell from could save you some $L? Do you track all your sales to determine what locations sell best for you. (side note.. I do that by adding an initial to box & vendor names that tells me what location I sell from).

I'm sure other business owners can come up with other suggestions. We've all had to ride out external problems of one kind or another here. Sl is volatile both as a market and as emerging technology. There will be more hard times... guaranteed.

I doubt that the economy will crash. After this is over with, who knows? There may even be a surge of people buying things when they can finally log on.
