Don't worry, Ashlynne. Linden Labs is always adding new sims to the map, and a certain percentage of that land is First Land for new players. I notice this new land appearing on the map late at night, because I'm often building for clients then. Good luck!

They always put out more. It often comes around midnight or 1 a.m. or later EST -- even later. Look for it first thing in the morning or very late at night game time.
Beware of what they have up their today -- it's recycled old land, not brand-new just-created land. That means it could be laggy or surrounded by ugly builds. Use ctr-shift-1 to check the FPS and look at the number of scripted objects. These are supposed to not be "accurate" or are "meaningless" and yet everyone knows they correlate marvelously with actual life on sims. More than 300 scripted objects especially more than 500 could spell trouble, scripts lag. OF course we know that some scripts lag more than others but the field experience of looking at ctr-shift-1 and looking at real estate tells you there is something to this. THe newer sims are at the very top in the north or very bottom now in the south and that kind of land would be a better buy just because it's on a fresher server. Some old sims are getting new servers of course, but they have more on them. Of course, the ugly build you might get tomorrow could be worse than the so-so build you can see now in the very ad for a first land recycled parcel today, so shop accordingly. _____________________

Apparently there are fifty or so lots available today. I haven't checked yet, as I'm trapped by the cursed deamons of "work". Feh.
See the Land Management thread I created for the post from Nova Linden re: First Land available now. And let me know if you do or don't see anything. |

There are lots, and they are recycled old-sim lots. I don't see any brand-new ones, I do see some relatively new sims like Vaotere (water) and Sand.

How'd that hole in the firewall get there?!
OK, yes, there are a few lots available. This morning, there were fifty; now, there are less than ten. By the time I'd normally be free to log in (8:00 PM or later, PST) I'd be willing to bet there would be none. So, it seems the answer is, check late at night or early in the morning and don't let the grass grow under your feet debating. Have some idea of where you'd like to be, and look for lots in those sims; don't get fussy about precise locations. Anybody who wants to come visit me in Sand is welcome, although there's nothing there at the moment but grass and a few cows as a neighbor. |

Dumb question I know - does First Land have to be the land listed in the game. Can you just go out and look for that amount of land and it count as first land? I am looking for some but not sure where. I just rented a place last night but still am looking for a little land of my own. Also, the monthly fee for over the First Land amount, do you pay that with your $L each month? Thanks!

Land tier needs to be paid with a credit card really, there is/used to be an option to pay with L$ but its very disproportionate to the current exchange rate of L$ - USD.. You have to have a premium account ($9.95 a month) which includes land tier for 512 sq m.. additional land tier can be purchased on top of that starting at $5 for an addition 512 sq m. _____________________

Thank you Zapotheth...I do have a premium account and can do that with a credit card so now the problem is looking for some land. What are my chances of finding First Land and then an adjoining 512 to go with it? |

What are my chances of finding First Land and then an adjoining 512 to go with it? Two ways to achieve what you want. 1. Buy the best located 512m first land you can find, then immediately resell it at a profit (eg buy for L$512, sell for L$3000). Now use your profit and another $3000 or so to get any 1024 you fancy. 2. Find someone following strategy 1, ie selling his firstland immediately, who still has an unsold first land plot right next to him. Buy his at full price, and get the other half for 512 right next door. Method 1 is easier to achieve. Note: in choosing first land for maximal resale value remember: Mature land is worth more than PG Closer to telehub is better. People like water nearby. People don't like snow (though I don't understand why). Too steep is bad, or up in clouds. Linden land on the boundary is good - prevents towering neighbors. |
