So I bought a game called "Settlers of SL" It's really fun. I thought it would be nice to buy some land and put the game on it so my friends and I could play. I picked up a first land plot of size 512. Unfortunatly i cannot place the game because it contains 250 objects and I can't have that many on my land.

Is there any way for me to pu tit on my land other than buying more land? With a basic account can I even buy more land?

Very confused. Appreciate any help.

You can buy more land, but it will make your monthly fee greater if you don't rent. For 250 prims, you'll probably need at least a 1104meter2 plot. It would be best to group own that. If you own it privately, it will cost you US$8.00 extra a month. If you choose the teir level for 512 meter2 extra, and then give your entire available land to a group with oficers you can trust, you will be able to own 1120meter2 for the group. Just enough to put out those 250 prims at US$5.00/month extra. Rental might even be cheaper than that if you find the right person to rent from.

If I just confused the hell out of you, IM me in Second Life and I'll try to do a better job of explaining. The whole land thing in Second Life is not always the simplest thing to understand.

Oh there is often alot of land for sale at any given time that will let you create objects. If you see any of my little white pyramid Land Sparrow signs, you can build things or put games out to play on that land without buying. I just ask that you take it with you when you leave. I do check every peice of land I own at least once a week. If you left stuff lying around that you aren't there working on, I'll return it to you just to keep things from building up. There is no autoreturn as long as no one abuses the ability to rez on my plots.

If you have "first land" 512 plot... then you're on a Premium account; basic acccounts are the free "no land" ones.

As you are on a Premium account, then you can buy more land... but as already stated, it will cost you more money through a monthly land tier fee. If I've calculated properly, using your Premium allocation of 512 sq m plus the 1024 sq m tier (giving you 1536 sq m maximum) will allow you 250 prims, assuming there's nothing else on that land.

As a short term measure, you could look for a Sandbox that isn't too busy and temporarily rez it there, but remember to clear it up after you have finished.

You get 117 prims per 512m lot.

512m = 117 prims

1536m = (3 x 512m)

3 x 117 prims = 351 prims

You should have 351 prims available on a 1536m plot

Thanks everyone for your help!! I think I understand how it works now.

I'm a bit dissapointed as I had hoped to put up a simple little cottage and drop the game inside it. You'd think for my $9 + $5 I'd be able to.

I guess I'll find a sandbox for now and perhaps buy more land someday when I can afford it.

Thanks agian.

Can you tell us a little bit about this game? What does it do, how does it work?

I'm just curious, that's all.

By the way, you don't have to have a lot of prims tied up in a home. Next to my place is Coco's Cottages (Rosieri 180,240), she sells a range of houses that fit in a 512 plot. The Cafe Au Lait cottage is 37 prims, Mood Indigo cottage is 49 prims - so you don't need to tie up a lot of prims in a basic little accommodation. I'm sure there are other good prefab home sellers - but Coco is my neighbour and I've seen what she sells :)

It's based on the RL boardgame Settler's of Catan, Lewis. There is one set up at the Starlight Coffee in Portage.
