I have my bestest friend in the whole world in another state, so I gave her an SL account for Christmas and I want to make her whole SL experience enjoyable. I sectioned off a part of my land and put a house on it and made it over to a Rental group. She's a member of that group. Now I want her to be able to put her stuff out. But when she does, it says it's not allowed.
I know I can either turn on create objects in the land option, but that scares me because other people will buidl things and use up my Prim.
I have resorted to giving her modify privileges, but this scares me because she's a Noob and can do damage.
Is there a way to allow her to put her stuff out and not leave myself wide open.
I did a search and couldn't find the answer using rental, maybe I needed another keyword.
Oh yeah, if I get a Rent-o-matic, would that allow her to put out stuff, or is that just for collecting money?
Thanks.

I got around that one by making a group that owned the land and admitting people to the group that I was living with. They have to have the group active to set stuff out. There is probably a better way, this gets cumbersome I know.

If the land is deeded to a group then all the officers of that group should be able to create items, in my mind.
Buying a rent-o-matic won't help at all lol..

Bodhi, if I make them officers, won't they be able to sell the land? I don't think my friend will do it on purpose, but she might by accident.

You should be careful with deeding the land - if they are an officer they can sell...
If you just have it set to share with the group however, even a regular member of the group should be able to create objects. The key is to turn object return on 1-2 minutes and tell your residents to wear their group title any time they create objects. Anything created like that will be shared with the same group as the land and kept rather than returned.

Also, even non-officers can do damage if they want by calling a recall election. If they can get rid of the original officer and put in one of their own, then they can sell the land. It isn't even possible to know who sold the land if there are multiple officers. I had a group venture go south on me when one of the other officers sold the land and then staged an elaborate frame to make it seem as if I had sold it. LL is not helpful in these matters. Be careful.

Thanks Deklax and Shack. Now I think I understand. The auto-return should do the trick. I had a neighbor once who left create objects on and then he was never on. Eventually he sold to me. Even though he took the only building off before he sold it, when I bought the 512 lot, there were 81 objects own by others and the scary thing was you couldnt' see them, so they must hve been scanners or such. Don't want someone else's junk to use up my prim!
