All members of SL have the ability and the qualifications to offer new players suggestions and all new players can figure out SL however it suits them best.

You really don't have to listen to anyone, including me of course.

Play SL with courage - there is nothing to fear - it really is just a game. A very interesting game, unlike any you've probably played on the net.

Ask lots of questions. Listen with an open mind when anyone says negative things about other players or other groups, just as you would in RL.

There is nothing to fear in SL, and no one to hate.

You can play this game by buying land, or not buying land.

People who offer land for sale are not trying to rip you off - they're playing Second Life in a way they enjoy.

Have fun, or don't - it's up to you.

You can also join Awakening Avatars Group - we have a newbie getting started info package - see my tag line below.

My advice about land: don't buy land. You DO NOT need it.

Have fun in other ways, without land! Rented, Bought, Leased, whatever. Don't do it!

Friends don't let friends own/rent/lease land! :D

I second that, Adam!

Personally, I think anyone who has bought and/or sold land in the game is a valued addition to 'advice' on land purchases. One need not be a land baron to submit helpful advice to the new player. Of course, there are those that feel only certain 'qualified' individuals should be dispensing advice. Surprisingly, noone has made the connection to how awfully FIC-ish (not to mention tekkie-wikkiish) that view is.
