I could see how it is afew propertys here or a few properties there but lately I have noticed that A LOT of land is coming up for sale like wild fire. Is there something going on? It seems everywhere i go I am seeing like half a sim or more for sale.

It's a bad time to be a land baron.

I just tiered down and shed nearly 10k in land, but it wasn't motivated by the recent changes but by coincidental real life concerns. I had to begin paring down noncritical expenses, and unfortunately SL is first at the chopping block. Two of my nieghbors also tiered down or will be tiering down. One tiered down for unrelated reasons, and another is planning to tier down and get an island.

Zowie.
Islands are canabalizing mainland sales which is creating instability and froth (to borrow a term). This is creating confusion in the marketplace and people are moving to the sidelines to wait it out. Prediction: LL will put a stop to renting. Sorry folks, but I can see no other alternative. It's either that or they see their whole contigous mainland fall to pieces. It's funny, though, because the island landlords are doing a better job of being LL than LL is (zoning, themed builds, land scaping, etc). Very very interesting times. _____________________

There are those of us who *do* rent, which do so purely to get away from the mainland. More reasons for that than there are such islands I'm sure, mine is privacy.
Also, since I've rented well before the island deeding, I'd have no problem going back to that as long as I had access to the original toolset that was available at the start. Or I'd just buy it from the person I'm renting from, but that's not happening anytime soon. ![]() A more likely prediction is that LL may slow down or speedup the new land rollout (for auction anyway) based on the amount of sellable land available. Also perhaps they may consider released land goes toward new First Land plots, when possible (perhaps a small incentive for that would help). These two suggestions alone would free up new servers toward the rolling upgrades of the older sims (perhaps including islands, for a small fee?). _____________________
