while you can have fun without having land, i think you'll have more fun with land.

what makes owning land more fun for you?

for me own land make sl more fun by letting me:

1. build big primmy things without having to take it back into inventory every night
   
2. host events
   
3. set up displays for people to view over a week (like sl teddy bears)
   
4. deal with griefers a little better
   
5. terraform. terraforming is fun.
   
6. let my friends host events
   
7. give my friends a place to hang out
   
8. make it easier to find me by often being at home
   
9. a pretty view
   
10. and more
    

what make land ownership fun for you?

I find that I need the "roots" that owning land provides.

In TSO I needed to have a home, someplace where I could be when I was at loose ends or just wanted to play quietly. I was uncomfortable not "living" someplace.

In There, one of the first things I did was rent a house ... and I was lucky enough to get There early enough that I actually was able to choose the house I wanted and didn't have to work with a real estate agent to help me. That reminds me .. I better make sure I have money for the rent!

In SL, I need the same sense of place, that there is one place that is mine and that I belong. I can visit all sorts of cool places, and some not so cool, come to that. But at the end of the day, standing on my own bit of land and looking at what I've built gives me the greatest pleasure.

That someone else comes along and says .. "wow, great stuff" ... that is icing on the cake. When they want to pay for something .. that is sprinkles on the icing.

Anyway, in the spirit of brevity, I should stop. Let me just say that while I know its a virtual world and I don't need shelter, I /do/ need a home. And land ownership gives me that in a way not even the best rental situation could.

I really enjoy my land. It is nice to have a place to call home. A place that is all mine (ok well, technically it is LL's heh) I love to decorate and people seem to really like the landscaping I have done. I probably spend more time outside my house than I do inside because I enjoy the views. I have water on 2 sides and the scenery is nice and the sim I am in is nice and peaceful. I do enjoy SL more by having land and recommend that everyone have at least a bit of land to call home.

The land we own is like a blank canvas.....it's ONE place we can pretty much do as we like. It shows our intersts, tastes and what not, for all to see, if they wish. We all like to make our mark and with our own land we can do that.

Oh yeah and I like to change clothes on my own land
