As much as I love the sandbox, I would really love to be able to test my scripts, lag free, and without causing any lag.
If we could have a small demo environment on our PCs to test the scripts in I think it would make scripting much more efficient...as well as cutting the lad on the servers.

For example: If I made a mod or map for a multi-player game like Call of Duty, I could run my own server and test everything before uploading it.

Now I understand that uploading prims would cause major bandwidth problems but at least being able to test a script in a controlled environment would really help.

Then we can do in-world tests and griefing in the sandboxes.
Isn't that what they are for???? :rolleyes:

This will happen eventually, LL have said how they won't be able to run all the srevers forever. Only thing is when and how much the server software will cost.

A cut down version in the meantime would be nice though.

When I want to do testing of scripts in a lag-free environemnt.. I jump on the preview grid.

That is a great idea, for now. But what if everyone does it?
A stand-alone environment would be best for testing scripts quickly, IMHO.

Just wanna say that people have been talking about offline sandboxes at least since I joined and AFAIK there hasn't been any Linden response. So don't get your hopes up, yeah?
