These exerpts are taken from this thread: /120/db/28964/1.html

From: Philip Linden
Hank,

Sorry to hear this isn't working out. If you look at the L$/month you were making from renting the towers versus the monthly cost of the number of square meters they were sitting on, how do they compare? If the land tiers were different, would that have helped? How close was the nearest tower to breakeven? What was the vacancy rate?

another way to tackle this problem would be to give groups graduated bonuses.

for example:
ten percent up to 16ksm,
fifteen percent up to 32ksm
twenty percent up to 49ksm
twenty five percent up to 65ksm
thirty percent over 65ksm

i'm making these numbers up off the top of my head so please don't argue their validity. it's just an example to demonstrate the concept.

i suggested this seriously but don't really expect any feedback from highjacking hank's thread. so please discuss it here if you think it's worth discussing at all.

Graduated? You mean tiered?
It's a good idea but frankly I would like to see tiers done away with.
Why not charge a function of the square meters owned, or in blocks of 512 or something :\

This is all data, its all VIRTUAL I dont know WHY LL keeps the land alocation locked on these limited tiers. It seems more profitable and just as easy to allow everyone to pay for the land they have and pay per m2 a variable rate that is basically the same cost ratio as the current system or less. this would allow everyone to own as much or little land and not have a big price jump scare them from purchasing more land like it does now. There are many players not wanting to bridge the 40-75$ tier gap but might want to buy 50-55$ worth of alocation. Is there any downside to this that anyone could tell me about?

i'm a not $40-$75 myself. but would be a $40-$50 and let it creep up from there.

i'll go along with y'alls proposal if it's considerable in divine circles. if not, i'll stick with asking for "tiered" group allocations.

thanks for the input.

I like the $40-$50 option better.
