It seems odd that we have to completely quit out of secondlife to log back in.

Hear, hear! Also, it's "odd" that we have to quit and relaunch to adjust certain settings. Relogging I can understand, but relaunching is just annoying and totally unnecessary.

I agree also! It's kinda silly to have to bail out of the entire application just to reconnect to the service. I've been clicking on the file menu for ages now looking for that feature. Kinda like how I keep looking in the fridge for something to eat, then sighing and closing the door when there's nothing appealing, then opening it again five minutes later and doing it again.

Other, much more popular games (for example, Half-Life 2) require restarts for certain graphical changes. Why should SL be any different? _____________________

Would be nice to have some automated way, if Second Life HAD to quit, for it to somehow quit and then relaunch itself so that inefficient, subsequent buttonpushing could be avoided.
Or some slider bar in the menu to switch between graphics modes for better performance -- when needed -- on the fly. Got crowded, laggy club? Easy fix! Just draaag the slider to the left, and there ya have it. Back in the smooooth comforts of the new sims? Draaag to the right. It's smooth, baby. ![]() _____________________

Sorry to bump such a very old topic, but I agree with the above users. Second Life needs a "Reconnect" function for those times where you find yourself red-mapped, but no "The system has logged you out" message pops up.(With my connection, this happens a lot.)
