Hello.
Im pretty new to the SL and i have to say its a great game. I like the events a lot. I think the "job" section need a bit improvement. I mean.. if u can script or modeling u dont need others , and everyone in the game actually work as dancers/designers/and rent land. I would like to see more realistic "jobs" and not see 50.000 dancing ... and "jobs" have much more meaning in the game.. otherwise .. why you need a job if u have a VERY BIG week wage of doing nothing ?
thank you,

Unfortunately, SL isn't really a game. Hence, there's no "needs" system. Our avatars don't get hungry, they don't go to the bathroom, (though there was that one animation...) and they don't need to fall asleep. This extends to jobs. If you can think of something that someone will pay you money to do, go for it. Right now, it's solely limited to creating things and jobs of various degrees on the dancing/stripping/cybersex spectrum. Remember, all those jobs are created and filled by users -- the Lindens don't sit down and decide that there need to be 10 new stripper jobs, then dole them out. Now, if you wanted to make a game WITHIN SL, there's no reason at all why you couldn't implement something similar to The Sims Online.

i dont want to make a game in SL , but i just say that the game will be stay stable and be the same in 1 month ... 3 months.. 5 months ... just with more casino... stripers.. dancers .. and malls !
Actually SL is not a chat room.. so this change will be good to be more realistic and "real"

A job or project database built into the client would be very cool.
But I would rather see an "items for sale" built into the client. When I want to buy a JetSki, I want to see _every_ jetski created so I can really compare.

Actually, you dont even really need a lot of money. There are no real needs for a job. If you do nothing but consume 24/7, yes, you will need more money.
In the mean time, consider your job making things you need. You can always go buy a table, but you can also spend some time and make one yourself for free. If you do a good job on it, you can try to sell it to others. Can you take good pictures? Set up a portrait studio.
You can probably find work if you look. Or, you can even create a business and employ others.
Enjoy the time that you dont have to work and develop some skills that you can market down the road.

I think the key here is that we all have various skills. Quite frankly, I know I could make a great airplane in SL. Why? Well, because I've written a flight simulator from the ground up. But why should I spend 200 hours designing an airplane script and model if someone else has already done it? From what I've read, there is a script out there that is fairly realistic, given the limitations of SL's controls.
SL people trade items for money in-game for the same reason they do in the outside world: because not everybody can or wants to do everything. Sure, I *could* grow my own tomatoes, but why when I get a 64oz bottle of Heinz Ketchup at the store?
On the other hand, I can model, I can script, and I can texture. So maybe I will make things other people haven't yet. Maybe they will buy it. If they do, then I'm happy!

Wraith, are you Autin Myer in real life by any chance? The creator of XPlane? Because that game is really cool.

Okay, maybe I'm misunderstanding you, George. Are you saying that you want someone to say, give you a job as a "doctor" in SL? And then you go do... doctory stuff?

LOL That's the biggest joke om the X-Plane.org forums. No, I'm not Austin, but I'm a fan of X-Plane. I am writing a simulator, though. It will be sold privately for training purposes, so I can't give a copy out or even really post previews of it.

If I could get some investors/partners, maybe we could do something like that... but it would take a year or more to develop, and we'd need $1000 plus $200 a month to run a private island. But really, if you're looking for Everquest, it's right over there: http://www.everquest.com

Well i support you i also think something like pilot to tranfere players from one big land to another just then you need to make sure the linden don't make teleport between them or maybe TV reporter then you can script a camera and make some in-game SL news or what ever maybe the army and then make a battlefield where the linden set some bad guys and then the doctor come with hes medkit and heal you hehe well just ask me i have alot of ideas hehe well see ya in-game just IM me if you need me __________________ Deakn Street - FSB
