Ad hoc group formation for IM, other

I scanned the list of open issues. Didn't see this one. Would the group consider an ad hoc group formation capability to facilitate groups of people doing a similar activity? Perhaps the group duration could be 8 hours, the group size limited to 100, and beyond those limits there's a group "rental" fee ($10L/hour?). That way if a group wants to go clubbing, participate in building something, etc., they can get together with just one IM going, be able to track each other on the grid, etc. Might facilitate ad hoc groups such as classes at TeaZeR U etc.

Group members such as a class at TU might participate by remote if the group owner, or others, can share objects among the group. Perhaps a group profile and TU class material is dropped onto the profile to immediately share among other group members. Would allow classes to occur at "remote campuses" or even anywhere on the grid.

Advanced capability might be for the group owner to "televise" or stream audio of some action so all group members can receive the streaming broadcast.

Membership would likely be by invitation only (the way I see it). Group owner and/or officers and/or any member, depending upon owner's config.

I've found the IM tools and group IMs really frustrating too.

Have you looked at the new group setups on the preview grid for 1.12? It's got a bunch of new functionality for groups and there might already be changes that are close to what you want. Maybe you and a friend could set up a permanent "clubbing" group with appropriate roles and invite people in for the event and then eject everyone or put them all into a "no IM" mode (if there is such a thing) afterwards. It would still cost L$100 but you'd only need to pay that once.

I would love to be able to select certain groups to be off or on for receivign group IM's .
I've quit many groups due to mass IM's of events that I can't attend or the event has no interest to me at the moment . Just to be able to have a relaxing romantic moment sometimes would be nice without a Group Spam IM or chatter intruding into the conversation. Yes i have a life in SL to. *smiles*.
