i'm digging how we can just give people our calling card and not have to trade now but can we please make that the default top level option and put Add Friend under the "More" menu? the way it is now make refusing cards even worse than it used to be.
before when you refused a card it was just "no thanks i don't want calling cards". now you're saying "I DON'T WANT TO BE YOUR FRIEND! I SUUUUUUUUCK!!!" and since new people are less likely to even know what's in the More menu let alone what the difference is......they're going to pick Add Friend automatically.
so please make Give Card the default and Add Friend the extra special. thank you and good night.

Can't you just accept it and then remove it?
But yeah, the terminology has gotten a lot more personal.

I have to agree with this one. With the new system, I don't mind handing out my calling card to people, but I don't always want everyone and their brother (and their brother, and their brother) to know my comings and goings.
Please switch the positions of "Add Friend" and "Give Card"!

From: someone Can't you just accept it and then remove it? well i just reject it in the first place instead of going to that trouble and pissing them off later when they notice. i just don't like having to explain the difference and how i'm not rejecting them as a person because i don't want to be their "friend" every. single. time.

I agree. I usually tell people I "don't do Friends because it's weird." It is weird - unless you actually ARE friends. I have to train noobs to sort through their pie menu and find the calling card option - not a bad thing for them to learn, but not something I always have time to teach. One day I'm just going to cancel all the "Friends" and start over. Well, maybe.

Yeah... the current arrangement feels counterintuitive to me -- I'd like to see this flipped around too, pretty please.

I know one thing that creeps ppl out about exchanging cards is that the other person can track you on the map without you knowing (correct me if I'm wrong on this). I would like it if the system would let us know when this is happening with a whisper like...."Avatar Name is wondering where you are." This way everyone knows when you're looking for them on the map, and hopefully there would be less malicious stalking.

I really think the individual should have more acceptable options... mainly the option to pick and choose which people can see them log in and out (and choose to let no one see them if they prefer).

Yeah, the 'Avatar is wondering where you are' message would be useful... although, personally, the only way I ever notice that someone is looking for me is if they IM me. I do generally check where people on my friends list are on the map, though, mostly to see whether they might be busy before I IM them. Maybe this 'tracking' option and the login/logoff notifications could be switched on and off for each card-- that is, so you could have a select list of friends who would be allowed to track you. I'd like to have the online notifications be optional in this way... as someone else mentioned, I have a bunch of cards, but I don't really need to know when *all* of them come online.

I don't think many people understand the difference between Contact Cards and Friendship. The fact that they were switched at birth adds to the confusion for people that remember the original Contact Cards! Contact Card functionality was replaced by Friendship, and then Contact Cards were reborn as Friendship-lite - if you can find them! I agree that it's a real pain to have to explain the difference to new acquaintances. And switching them on the avatar pie menu would be a relief.

After some testing with a friend, I have determined the only thing a contact card does, is add a card to your calling cards, it won't tell the person if you're online or offline, it won't give them the possibility to IM you on a contact list, it won't give them the ability to track you... It really does nothing than give you a calling card that when you open, opens up the person's profile dialog that says you're "offline" always.
