Disconnect client on "ghosting"

When someone is lost by the sims, and is floating around like a ghost, there should be a timer of no longer than 30-60 seconds that disconnects them.

What I mean by ghost:
This is your classic clipping-sim-corners problem, or just randomly when your client loses track of your avatar. You then fly around and:
-can't land
-you fly though objects and land
-can't be seen on radar
-can't be seen or heard
-can't hear
-can still see people, presenting a possibly privacy issue

I'm not sure if the timer would be on the client or the server, but likely client.

Bottom line... if the client sees me flying around in a sim and it's not the one that the client thinks they are in, there should be a timeout after 30 or 60 seconds. People have to restart SL anyway to fix this, so there's no impact to players, only benefit.

Or just fix the damn bug already. Why is it so hard to figure this out? It's been around for at least a year and a half.

LOL Eggy, this is like people asking about seatbelts and fuses in Star Trek. Just won't happen! lol

I mean, hell. Quick fix, even if what's actually causing the bug is too hard to track down:

Just add a /relocate command that people can use when they get ghosted that tells the servers "Ok, you've lost me. Here's where my client says I am, so consider me there."

I like Eggy and Rei's ideas.

Something like /stuck, that some MMORPG's have, or /ghosted, typing it will teleport you to your last saved location, and smack the server to update to that location, etc.

Actually, the opposite will usually make more sense: /relocate says "I'm lost. Where am I?", at which point you get teleported to wherever the servers think you are. Letting the client decide where you are is quite vulnerable to cheating: getting in to private islands, for example.

You could just have a big red panic button take you to the welcome area, for christ's sake...

As far as I know, this is still an issue, and a privacy issue for residents.

I have now had a friend tell me that they suspect they are being spied on.

There is NO legitimate reason this could be used, so it's not a matter of should this be fixed, but how difficult this fix would be and/or how much of a priority it is.
