I've noticed that there's a second life URL/helper protocol that can be used to launch SL/teleport you to various places, e.g: secondlife://place name/012/345/678 Unfortunately this doesn't work for the OS X client, because the helper protocol isn't registered on the system. I found a pref pane that allows you to define helper protocols, and tried to define the SL one manually, but because of OS X's file/launcher paradigm, the SL.app could not be used because it doesn't have a creator code. So.... could the OS X client get a creator code so that files/URLs can be associated with it? Or to save the trouble of us manually specifying the helper protocol, SL could register the protocol on the system itself? See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creator_code (what Creator Codes are) http://www.monkeyfood.com/software/moreInternet/ (the pref pane for defining/editing helper protocols)

That's odd, I'm sure I've opened secondlife:// links. I'll test that when I get home.

Works fine for me.
Have you modified your LaunchServices bindings using something like DefaultApp?

Yeah I've done it too; so it's definitely not a problem with mac. ( I just don't know how to fix it though Do you maybe not have Mac OS X tiger? Because maybe you need to have them integrated?

I'm running Tiger. I've got a bit more info here after doing a bit of digging around... I got an app called RCDefaultApp, which is a pref pane that allows you to set a lot more things than the MoreInternet one I linked to earlier (URL handlers, mime types, extensions, etc), and it already had secondlife:// URLs listed, but it was set to use Finder...... I don't know why, perhaps because MoreInternet had previously defaulted it to that, I guess. So I chose to set the default app back to <default>, which was Second Life.app, and now I can click the URLs using Safari and it will plot landmarks for me to see (it doesn't actually teleport me there though). However, in my usual browser (Omniweb), the URLs don't work still. I presume that has something to do with the way Omniweb handles them, who knows? RCDefaultApp is at: http://www.rubicode.com/Software/RCDefaultApp/
