The protected land thing with waterways is a wonderful, wonderful thing.

However, what happens when someone near a protected waterway creates land DEEPER than the waterway itself? Or, in fact, what happens when someone creates water at the edges of an area of protected land that isn't water? You end up with a very jagged, ugly looking piece of land (see picture) that has no buisness being there.

LL already has coded in the ability for land height to be 'memorized'. In fact, the newer sims have a 'revert' function that lets you put the sim back to it's original shape. So the original shape of the land -can- be accessed by their server code, and it can be done fairly quickly.

What LL needs is code to automatically -smooth- Linden land (without altering nearby land, which might end up being the harder task) to match the surrounding area, without exceeding the original height of the land.

So if land around protected land drops below the protected land, the protected land lowers to match it. If land raises up again, but still below the original height of the protected land, the protected land again matches the height of the land around it. Smoothly. (Just like the smooth tool in terraforming. You use that 'long' enough on a plot you own, and you get a VERY nice smooth slope that blends well with the area around your plot.) If the land around protected land increases past the original height of the protected land, the protected land merely goes to the original height, and no further.
