I don't know if this has been brought up yet, but I think that we should be allowed to join more than just 10 groups(maybe 20?). A lot of my friends want me to join thier group, but I am always in 10 already! I hate to leave a group for another becuase then the group leader thinks I don't want to hang out with them anymore. I go to many different places to hang out with my many friends and most of them require/want you to join their group! Sometimes leaving a group means breaking off relationships becuase some people take it the wrong way! :( Thank you for your time!

What Chosen said. I am in several groups and can't leave any of them. I need maybe 5 more. Adding more groups would expant the group social element of Second Life. Please increase this limit.

Yes, it has been brought up before, but with the added and all-important additional request: MULTI-LEVEL HIERARCHY!

Heh, I was going to ask about that too but didn't want to ask for too much LOL! I really hope the Lindens agree!

Agreed, seeing as how people belong to different groups for different reasons be it social groupings, land contribution, business endeavors and/or club memberships...10 just is not enough and the number should increase with the size of the world.

HAving had to create a private group to share land with another person - at the "cost" of creatinga dumy account that may never be used (becauseI don't want to "partner", just be ina group with someone else for land purposes), I have essentially "wasted" a group.

10 is definitely too small.

Consider the following.
Everytime I go to a Mall to become a vendor, I get offered a chance to join their group. Now, should I decline, the Mall owner's nose may be out of join. Should I actually join, then I may quickly hit the "velvet ceiling" of 10 group limit - at which point this question circles onto itself ad infinitum.

I like the multi-tiering idea.
-A set of business groupings
-A set for the sim(s) where I own land - a true "community" group for landowners for just that sim
-A set for private social groups/associatiosn I want to maintain - VERY important if I am friends with one group who are not friends with others of my firends)

Heck, if I can set up mailing lists in the simplist email program, why should I be limited to 10 sets of friendships (okay a bit of a stretch there) here in SL?

I wouldn't say increase by the size of the world, Ishtar, but by the size of the community.

Pretty please with whipped cream and cherries on top Linden's!! 10 groups wasn't a bad number before the huge influx of new players, but now there are just too many things that require joining a group to participate. The group number needs to grow in proportion with the size of the world, otherwise, such a small limit holds back the things we can do inworld.

Please....just a few...please!!

Well seeing as how the number of servers added is dependant upon the growth of the community (this per linden lab)...I would say that world size and community size are parallel if not synonymous. Be that as it may, the number of groups is insufficient for the size of the community and it's growing need for forming alliances and partnerships.

BUMP!

I agree. We need more groups. As a merchant, only 10 groups really limit my reach. As it is now, I have to stop deploying vendors when the limit is reached. Mall owners naturally wants to have the merchants in a group to be able to easily clean up their land when it's needed.

Having several kinds of groups would be even better, but I'll be quite satisfied with just being able to join more of them.

I do NOT agree with this! Just bumping up the # of groups is not a good solution! We need more options within our current limits, bumping the number will only solve the problem for a short time!

I had written a post a while back about group ideas, take a look!
