These are really two requests that cover common ground

1) Instead of having to dig through textures one at a time, the texture box should resemble something like windows explorer's in thumbnail mode. The closest analogy would be the map screen. Laboriously going through textures one at a time is made worse when you have to scroll through and increasingly huge drop down box. Also put in some kind of folder browser so we can categorise them. A workaround right now is putting NOTHING in my textures root and only moving anything there that I might work with i.e. a pallette but this is a pain in the ass and the current system encourages disorganisation.

2) Same as above with animations (well really gestures). I have my animations categorised, then further categorised into poses, looped or one time play etc.

An idea similar to this is suggested for textures in this thread.

The texture previewer is really bad. Most of us have a few hundred textures, and browsing through them in a big list by name is not helpful. Some of use even have thousands. Maybe a folder tree in the texture window. Or the ability to activate and deactivate "sets" of textures, similar to how font management programs use sets of fonts.
