Create a secondary-click option in Inventory to "Close Containing Folder". This allows people to quickly navigate inventory without having to scroll up large folders just to close it.

Why not go the whole hog and have "Collapse Folder" & "Collapse All Folders"
How many times have I sat there closing folders just because search opened them for me.
(If i was a paying resident I would vote for it - but us free players aint allowed to vote )

I *think* this refers to your wish -- and I, myself, discovered it just last night... When you open your inventory and click on the first option on the menu bar (I'm not in-world so I'm going from memory here -- maybe it is Edit?)... you'll find an option for "close all folders" (again with the memory thing!) Kaboom! Pow! All your folders are closed!

Right, but for closing a single folder while you are in the middle of one hundred items - that would be a bonus

If you tap the left arrow key twice it closes teh containing folder.

Hmm, didn't know that, maybe because they don't seem to tell us I think the inventory windows could be improved in general, being able to open folders quickly as tabs or new windows (without going to 'new window' then finding it) by right-clicking or such would really help. The giant list method just doesn't work when a resident can easily have thousands of items in their inventory! Or even changing the default folder-open behaviour (using an option) so residents can open folders as new windows, tabs or the regular way as they please. SL can already do tabs and new windows, so no reason not to really, as it's a pretty common part of the UI

Most of the SL interface is hardcoded, and simple changes are rather involved (LL sucks at interface API writing).
I have probably 10,000 items in my object folder (or just under half my inventory).

No!!! Folders Should Open The Macintosh Way In List, columns, Or Icons!!!!!
04-30-2006 14:03
It Would Be So Much Better!!!! Ths Way,in Column Mode: When The Object Is Found It Displays Its Cate Created, Date Modified, And All The Information Such As Name And Description, Column Windows Are So Much Easier To Deal With. Already Got List Mode And Then Icon Mode, This Way You Can Easily Organize Your Items. This Is A Serious Mess In Sl The Inventory Folders.
