What has become of the render under cursor feature?

It seems somewhere along the way, the feature that was added which caused whatever was directly under your cursor to get rendering priority (ie..moving your cursor over a box in a store and that image coming in first before the images around it) seems to have disappeared. This was a great feature, and now that textures seem to load in more slowly that they used to, it would be nice to be able to indicate what you are waiting to see first.

EDIT: Make that "It's in 1.5.10." It does nothing for me in 1.5.10 - no matter what I put the cursor over, it has no effect on its speed of rendering.

Pointer rendering works. Geforce FX 5700 - it worked in previous versions, but stopped working several versions ago.

I was under the impression that what is under your cursor doesn't get priority UNLESS you alt it. Alt+cursor makes stuff come in faster.
