I don't know if it's been done or if it even CAN be done, but I'd like to see a complimentary application to SL that works much like AOL, MSN, ICQ instant messaging system.

Almost like detatching the IM option in SL and dragging it to my desktop, then shutting down SL so I can get my RAM back.. but still able to chat with my friends while I'm working on my desktop, essentially offline. Then "in-world" it would have an icon telling eveyone I'm not in SL physically, but online for chat.

I know that I can go onto the SL website, check who is online or send emails out but I think something that I can hook into my trillian... or a standalone app would really streamline the way we communicate in SL.

If there is already something like this, please tell me, because I missed the boat.
If not. copyright 2005: Rughster Faulkland. hehehehe.

(i would even love to be in a project like this. however, i'm a flash/web interface designer/developer/illustrator so i could only help out with the way it "looks')

A main point that is hammered over and over is... you can certainly communicate from SL to the outside world, but the other way around currently ain't so easy. We don't have a more transparent bidirectionality.

I can see someone in an airport who can't load up all of SL but wants to talk to some friends inworld.

And it'd be litestepped, so it doesn't slow down the computer so much, but would assist with communication.

Rughster what are some examples of art you've made? :)

Oh this would be so great to have, I hope this project does go into effect. Even a pluggin to Trillian would be cool. I dont think your ideas are impossible...

Good Luck!
