The ability to decide which axis of a prim you can make hollow. Having it only on the Z axis with some of the prims is almost useless, take the cylinder for example, it already hollow on the Z axis, isn't making a hollow shape hollow a bit redundant? The ability to choose which axis, or even multiple axis would help with the prim load in a sophisticated build. I can think of several object I make that could be done with one prim instead of the 2-4 prims I now use if we had this ability.

Was just thinking about hollows the other night...
I like the axis choice, perhaps even instead of having the choice, simply be given settings for all 3 axis.
I also want to add the idea of allowing to set offset from center. The idea occured to me while staring at a woman's earring - a very simply circle with an offset circle cut out of it - this is a shape that is extremely burdening to create in SL.

I agree on the offest as well, think of how convenient this would be for windows and doors. No more windows perfectly centered in a wall - looks tacky, and being able to cut a door at the base of a prim without having to cut and resize.

Better controlls?

I fully understand why LL wouldnt want to make the design system in Sl to complex. But maby there should be an option to use "advanced mode" where you have all the options of something like Lightwave.
I was loking at a rock made by the lindens by a waterfall.. It was 1 prim, but theres no way it could have been made simply by SL's system. Is the "prim" system a way to controll how many Polys are allowd in an area? Or just a way chosen because they wanted to keep it simple? If so "the first one" Maby there could be an option to set your land to "polly count" rather than "prim count".
Take "cell Shading" for instance, to do so say with a sphear. One hasto make the first prim, and then another one, hollow it and set the outside with a 100% trans texture.. Why not just make a hollow sphear with Singal sided fliped pollys? This would even help in reducing how much cpu load each client has, and maby even the sims themselves.

I've done some interesting things with prims by making a bunch of changes in one shape mode (ie: el torus!) and then switching to a shape that doesn't support those functions. The shape ends up very distorted. Practice can help you come across some very intriguing shapes.
However, I don't think that's how Linden rocks work. I'm willing to bet they are like the Linden trees and completely client-side housed. Only a 1 prim box sets the location/boundaries of the rock. Course Lindens could have a God power that lets them spoof the number of prims an object has and say it's 1 prim when it's really 20 to save on prim limits. How'd you like to get ahold of THAT ability? 197 prim stratofortress? POOF. 1 prim. Pile on, boys, we're goin' a-huntin'!

I defintiely would like to select the axis that I can cut a hole in a prim... possibly even two axes!

Good idea cash.. maybe we could do the Twist axis thing too then.
I mean.. if we can chose the axis of the hole, why not the axis of the twist too

I like the twist idea FuRaz, good addition to prim manipulation.
