I was wondering if it is possible to chat with friends who are in the Second world, from say a chat client or some such? At current I am on a linux machine, and that is unlikely to change. I eagerly await, Second Life on Linux, but until then I am more or less stuck outside the world.
So if you can't then you should be able to. I mean chat clients aren't to hard right? Relative to the software that makes up the Second Life Client. I can see that some of my friends are online, but I can't talk to them. I know there is an IM client built into the SL client... so it would seem to follow.
Also, is it possible to make "flowable" clothing? or is that to taxing? collisions and all that.

They're working on it and I have seen a SL chat engine for IM inword people, but it couldn't tell who was online and who wasn't. Check the forums.

From: Kac Everidge I was wondering if it is possible to chat with friends who are in the Second world, from say a chat client or some such? At current I am on a linux machine, and that is unlikely to change. I eagerly await, Second Life on Linux, but until then I am more or less stuck outside the world. I`ve been using a Linux-Native client for over fifteen weeks now: http://secondlife.com/community/linux-alpha.phpFrom: Kac Everidge So if you can't then you should be able to. Other people apparently do also, for, in fact, there are several Feature proposals out there for just this. [Would someone please list them here?] From: Kac Everidge Also, is it possible to make "flowable" clothing? or is that to taxing? collisions and all that. Um, might you mean clothing made of flexi-prims? Toodle-oo!
