Additional prim allowance for existing land

I wish it was possible to buy more prims for the land I already have, rather than having to buy more land to get more prims. I have things set up the way I want them and it would be a real nuisance to have to move everything to a bigger lot, which I don't need. I would just like to be able to put more furniture in my house.

I agree 100%. I too wish I could just buy prims. However, I think the point is to sale land.

its based on how many prims a region can handle.... 15000 per region and the basing prims per sqm of land is the only fair way to do it. Otherwise if it was paying for more prims a land owner with 512sqm could own all the prims leaving the restt SOL. Its the same as a view, if you want to protect your view own it. If you want more prims buy more land. I think its a very fair way that its set up now.

What I wanted this for is to put more furniture in my house. But it would have an effect on land as well. In a way it would be like building "upwards" instead of spreading out. If you wanted you could add another story to your house by buying more prims, or even build a sky scraper without having to own all of the land around it if you were that ambitious. How much land would you have to buy right now in order to build an Empire State Building? And where would that leave the rest of New York? :) If it were possible a group might want to do that, or build something like an arcology. I'm not suggesting getting this for free, it would affect your tier the same as buying more land. Another thing this would encourage is more elaborate objects that use up more prims. People would still have to own enough prims to rezz them, which would make up for the extra server resources these objects would consume. But it would allow for a lot more creativity, and also allow downtown areas to be built so you could get a real big-city feel to some areas of SL.

many people who wish to do the same as you simply buy more land in the same region so they can use the prims on one or the other of the lots. It's very simple..... the server for a region can only support 15000 prims. Im order to fairly distribute them they are tied into the anount of land owned in the region.

Oh. I didn't know that about the servers. :( But I also didn't know you could buy another lot in the same area and use the prims from it. That will work too.

There was supposed to be a prim increase in 1.9, but I think it was delayed...I think something to do with implementing a new physics engine (havok 2). I've heard rumors that this update might be forthcoming.

Yes, there will be many changes in the future and this one will be one but Im suspecting there will still be limits and they will be directly tied into the land :)

consider all the people who wear Prim heavy attachments, it bothers me that my house has to be a box so i can allow stuff inside it.

i mean, hell, one guy had a samurai costume you wouldn't believe. even the handle of his sword had a prim for every loop. told him to get a damn texture.

i think angler objects like cubes should count as 0.1 unless they have a rounnd hole or such. a sphere has to become more detailed as you get closer but i'm sure cubes say the same at any distence

Attachments are not handled by the sim, they do not exist "in world"... they only exist in the rendering in your client... as far as the sim is concerned your whole avatar is a box, no matter what it looks like or what attachments you are wearing.
