Yes yes, I know there are various bugs to do this already. Why don't we have a "featured" version though? I get a bit of a headache keeping track of the "current one that works," especially when I'm trying to help a friend of mine ignore a blatant "griefer build."

"Invisibility" prims, by contrast, allow certain prims and complete avatars (basically, anything with any degree of alpha) to not render behind them. I've been told that another brand of the famous bug ignores rendering all the way to the "see land mesh only" level. This is desirable for people that tire of greedy tards blocking one's view with their plot, since you'd just "see right through it" from your land, via a wall of these prims. This would also prevent your build from feeling "confined," and many people continue to invent legitimate uses of this useful "bugged" effect. Isn't this desirable in some form?

Alternately, I feel "Highlight Invisible" renders the problem of this being used in combat sims obsolete. It would still be nice if it were a feature, though!

For this purpose, I'd much prefer "Turn off render by plot/by owner". :)It would have the same effect that you're aiming for, also be able to nerf a LOT of the grief-building that goes on in SL, and be pretty much as easy to work for Joe Shmoe as it currently is to mute another resident. It would also have the virtue of not requiring anyone to use up their own prim allotment in order to cover up the ugly builds of their neihbors, AND it would not tip-off your neighbor that you've circumvented their griefing activities (thus triggering them to attempt some other way of annoying you). You need not tell a neighbor that you've "muted" their builds, you could just do it, and they'd have no way of knowing.

I agree more with Jeffrey's implementation, due to the fact that scripts have more control over the primitive material.

Though I do disagree with the fact that this will be implemented via prim material. Id much rather see it texture-based, as we usually only want to have this effect from only one side of a primitive.
