Why does the blog even exist? To keep hip? :p It's a pain to read/find info, format/layout sucks, can be posted to using pseudonyms, doesn't format all characters properly, and is just another distraction in an already highly confusing realm of "information".
Take the recent "grid attack" (oooh noes, better turn off ALL scripts!). There's 5 topics on the blog about this, spread out over a long time period. Why not just use the forum's "Annoucement" area for important updates. Screw the blog and hipness. Use a blog for your personal drivel and highlights that everyone, member of SL or not, might care to read. Post game-centric info in the member-centric forums.
And get someone with a clue to (yet again) re-design the layout of the forums in a manner that makes some sense (KISS). Finding info on the forums/blog is about as confusing as day-one in SL. Perfect example; take someone on day one and have them find the "General" forum :p ooh anyway not ranting about forums, well I'm starting to, so time to shut up.
Dump the blog, it's a joke and just one more item to add to the confusion.

the only reason the blog was good during the attack is the fact that you can read it tru RSS feeds which can be piped inworld ... ive tried to get them to do this with sections of the forums but they are ignorant and scared of it, IMO the only reason the blogs have RSS is that they havent figured out how to open a plaintext php file and remove it ... in VB forums its just a checkbox From: Bosozoku Kato And get someone with a clue to (yet again) re-design the layout of the forums in a manner that makes some sense (KISS). eh dont dump it, i guess it has uses ... what would be great is if they didnt have announcements in one place, a page to relay that announcement, then actually have the announcements in another entirly different place... i LOVE clicking 3,4,5 links for something that should be FRONT PAGE for users that are logged into the website + the fact that theres RSS feeds for 2 out of the 3 that WONT work unless your logged in, thats right up there with military intel, here have a newsfeed that you have to log into WTF thats the ANTI-POINT of a RSS feed top it off with each script system is totally independant of eachother ... thats why you have to enter your e-mail address (doesnt verify it btw) to post on the blogs, eventho your already LOGGED IN to the same website that holds your billing info ... im not a PHP web god, but damn ive already accomplished these things many times before with little more than "hrm php is dynamic" thought and some forum scowering untill i got what i wanted/needed [/rant]

It wouldn't be so bad if the blog were for JUST announcements (though I fail to see why the announcements forum is unsuited to it). But important ones are lost because of big features on events or random musings.
The announcements forum is much better suited, as all you see are topic titles, so you can more easily find what is relevant and THEN read the text, rather than being buried under an avalanche of information that is not pertinent to why scripts are deactivated =(

I simply don't bother with the stupid blogs. Or even the forums much now - which was of course the whole point of 'replacing' the forums with that mess of corporate blogs.
SL is screwed up to the point where I just keep to my island, and each time I pop out for some reason I'm horrified by the state of things 'outside'.
Maybe this is the future of SL? A loose network of people in their private worlds with little communication? Both inworld and outside?

It's sadening, the only place I get good FPS is at home, another sim quickly lags me with time dilation of 0.5 or less and horrible frame-rates. I don't know why Koss is unaffected, but it is a haven for me, I'm discouraged from exploring due to the dreadful performance issues in general, PLUS all the additional lag at the moment =(

THe thing is, a blog is really just a forum with only one person who can start threads...
I really don't mind LL shutting down the more loudmouth forums, as long as the more technical ones are here. However, the blogs do need to be a little better organized.
Doesn't LL have a full time webmaster? Seems like a good investment for a company whos entire livelihood is based on Internet traffic.

From: Dr Tardis Doesn't LL have a full time webmaster? Seems like a good investment for a company whos entire livelihood is based on Internet traffic. They have something like 10 teams of web developers. Of course, their projects are to break the client apart into two pieces: the GUI and the Renderer. Why web developers? Well, what's the GUI if not a piece of interactive web software? (IM clients anyone?)
