http://secondlife.com/vote/index.php?get_id=721GIVES US THE OPTION TO APPEAR OFFLINE when needed ! A MAGIC BUTTON FOR PEACE OF MIND ! How many times did you try to concentrate on building, designing, scripting... but helas you are being interrupted constantly .... by Im's. Now "Busy Mode" will not stop the Im's from coming, and while in Busy Mode you cant even accept an item you were given, nor talk to the partner with whom you you are working.... Alt's are a pain, making items under a name you dont want to appear, buying everything you need double, just so that your Maincaracter can appear offline??? GIVES US THE OPTION TO APPEAR OFFLINE when needed ! A MAGIC BUTTON FOR PEACE OF MIND ! Thanks for supporting these Proposal ! Vote here : http://secondlife.com/vote/index.php?get_id=721

How about just an option to hide IM's when busy (even from the chat history, like when you mute someone).
Basicly two new check boxes in the Busy Mode Window [x] Hide IM's (do not allert user when they come in and hide them from the chat history (if that option is enabled)) [x] Hide av chat in history These values would be remembered between sessions.
On return from busy mode all hidden chat would appear and an allert would be triggered if there were any hidden IM's
Maybe a third check box [x] turn all av's a preset color defined in settings

Strife, but would the IMs themselves be retained between sessions or would you have to remember to answer them before logging out or have them lost? Vindi you may want to look at: http://secondlife.com/vote/index.php?get_id=52 which is for pretty much the same thing altho the wording there is confusing. Past SL Forum threads include: /13/dc/42771/1.html

For the love of all things holy & unholy....... yes, please!
It appears folks get my online notification before my client has even finished loading up yet. Some days I'll have IMs stacked up with "Travis - are you there????" with people thinking I'm ignoring them - before my screen has even rendered yet.
On the days that I just want to log in and do some scripting or building - its immensely frustrating. I can and do login as an alt - but then I have no access to my inventory.
Please, give us a checkbox at login for "Hide Online Status", and let us toggle that back on when we're ready to be social.

Travis, you and I are gonna leap on this every time we see it come up again in the future. I have a good feeling about it.

Egad... Friends Status Abuse.
Couldn't you just tell them to chill, or even remove them from your list?
I suppose this is why i keep my list small.

From: Moss Talamasca Egad... Friends Status Abuse. Couldn't you just tell them to chill, or even remove them from your list? I suppose this is why i keep my list small. I've tried that before... it doesn't work well because it becomes a RRL = Really Redundant Loop doing that over and over again. This is more subtle, like Japanese etiquette for laughter. I appreciate and treasure having friends in SL, and see no reason why to ax nice people off my list! As Travis alludes to, we enjoy being social but there's a time for no-IMs too. Also consider the lateral mode... being able to walk through the world quietly, taking a nature stroll, talking to those in the local vicinity, smiling, and continuing to travel on. It's kind of like being able to turn a frequently-ringing cellphone off.
