I have no idea if this has been suggested already (seems obvious?) but since much of SL is made up chatting... It would be nice to have the ability to log chats. Most IRC or other chat clients give you this feature and I'm actually a little suprised that SL doesn't already have it. Wouldn't it be great if I could look back through my logs and cut & paste the exact terms of that Superbowl bet Been drinking too much lately? Another problem solved with SL --Jack Lambert

Chat Logs

This is possible now.
Above your text entry box for chat, there is a "history" button. click on that and you have chat history since last login (there may be a cache threshhood, after which old lines drop off but I don't think I've reached it yet).
Select all the text (select-scroll) or (ctrl-A) then copy (ctrl-C) and paste (ctrl-V) into your favorite text editor.

I think he's asking for SL to actually log the chats (as in save them in a file), not Chat History. If that is indeed what he is talking about, I second this feature suggestion. If it isn't, I second my feature suggestion.

Ah yes, let me clarify. I was looking for the ability to save to a file. Most chat programs can also differentiate between private messages and "general chat" and save them in appropriate files. I'd love to be able to turn on chat logging and forget about it, not have to cut and paste after every session The feature is what I would call "very easy" to implement in terms of code. --Jack Lambert

Cut and paste

cut and paste seems to work fairly well in the history window.
not perfect but this is also useful when my network dies to save my last script.
